Unfortunately provocraft discontinued the use of cricut craftroom, which was the way I used my computer to drive non cricut svg files. Girl, I can't stop dreaming of ALL the things to create! It's a kind of madness. Yep. I work in various graphic programs to get the designs where I want them: Photoshop, Affinity Designer, SCAL Pro 5, sometimes InkScape. Whatever set of tools is needed for a particular aspect of the process. And yeah, the hardening process gives the pieces WEIGHT, in addition to rigidity - and personally, I REALLY like that. Heather its beautiful! And congratulations on becoming an etsy entrepreneur! I wish you tons of success. A couple of suggestions/hopes: 1. Consider making the file available in other scales. I'm sure all the Barbie girls out there would want to pick this up in 1/6 scale (I follow a few KZbinr who specialize in beds for Baribies, Monster High, and Descendants figures). I personally need a bed like this in half scale, which has been growing in popularity. And if it would work in smaller scales, I'm sure it would be a hit. It's so hard to find stuff that small. 2. Consider being willing to sell pre-cut pieces for those without a die cutter. I imagine there are a number of people out there who don't feel the need to spend $400+ for a Maker yet, but who wouldn't mind spending a little to get some pre-cut pieces so they can follow along. Good luck with everything!

Oh, Heather - first of all thank you for the congrats - it's been an incredible experience so far. I have much to learn about every aspect of this venture, and I appreciate the fact that you are willing to share such detailed and helpful feedback - that is amazing of you! I hear you about the scales - and it is something that I would love to build in to the workflow at some point - it would be incredible to create files that can be used by different segments of the mini community, and I will definitely be working toward that goal! I also hear you about offering pre-cut kits: I KNOW there is a market for this, but I don't personally have either the time or energy to provide both the digital AND a physical product. I am open to any and all suggestions - but unless someone can set me up with a company that can produce these for me, it's just not humanly possible. One woman show, here, already overextended. 😉💗

@@Thicketworks I know some people contract out some of the work by allowing their helper to keep 100% of the profits from that portion, but sell in your store so you still retain the business/market. You get the right to cut them off at any time and either recontract out, do it yourself, or stop producing altogether. It just depends on what you set up. That being said, I understand that's a lot all at once, and I totally respect not being able to stretch yourself a thousand directions (or even just not wanting to). I just have a lot of business clients and enjoy helping them generate ideas to be successful. Artists do need to eat too. I think that becoming a business helps artists create better product and benefits us all. You have given us an amazing amount of incredible quality ideas, techniques, and even free svg files. And we all appreciate it. But I'm also glad you are finding a way to "live" from your work too, so that you'll stick around and keep creating beauty (and videos) for us. @Thicketworks5 жыл бұрын
Hi Donna! I love your new profile pic, girl - looking fabulous! I use the baking soda method when it's helpful to strengthen a piece that is super fragile, when gaps need to be filled, or when a surface needs to be 'built up'. Since none of those applied here, it wasn't necessary. Using Starbond isn't a replacement for it. xoxo
