In this video I show you how I made a mouse using only foil, masking tape, and paper towel.There is no clay or wires used. I use acrylic yarn to make the fur. Please see pinned comment for timestamps and links.

I made my very first piece last night! 😀 It's a comfy armchair. Did fine with the foil and tape but I sure need work when it comes to the paper towels and glue, lol! Seems I left way too much glue on the towels and the whole piece was still damp and wet in spots this morning. I used dollar store 'Jenga' block pieces for the bottom of the chair. Gave it a nice weighted feel, as well as a super level bottom. Thank you for all the great videos, it was fun trying it out on my own. 😊

Super video! I do have a couple of suggestions although your creations are perfect as they are. Albino mice, rabbits, etc. have pink eyes usually, and are small BB looking eyeballs. If you take a sewing pin with plastic balls on the end makes fantastic eyeballs, they are even glossy looking which helps. You can use the black ones or pink your choice and I cut the point off the end of the pins (makes them shorter and of course safer) either super glue, or hot glue them into place. Just ideas, to take or leave, your the creator.
@WhereTheGnomesLive2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I think for the purposes I use my mice and rats for the color red isn't a great option for the eyes but you are absolutely right about the color. It's just a personal choice for me and my creations aren't made in a realistic form. As for the pins, I do use pins for eyes sometimes.. it's nice to have different options for those who might be limited in supplies. In my videos I'll use felt, paint, pins and whatever else I can think of lol it depends on the character I'm making. I don't have a set way of making any parts really. For my shoe brush hedgehogs I used pins on some and paint on others. Jump to 32:36 in this video to view kzbin.info/www/bejne/emGTXqmvaJqUpq8

I am so sorry about your eyes, that must have been so painful. I hope you are doing well now. I really, really love this video. I watched it twice last night and started making a mouse. Only mine is twice as large as yours. Mine is only at the masking tape stage now, I still have to add the paper towels and fur. I hope to make some more that are the size of yours. I love your gnomes too. I love everything you make. I hope to try to make some trees in the future as well.
@WhereTheGnomesLive3 жыл бұрын
thank you very much and my apologies for the late reply. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, that makes me very happy. Don't worry about sizes too much, it's normal for things to be much bigger than you planned on, it actually happens to me still. I use those ones for display. I truly believe that each project we do teaches us something new. And sometimes these little creatures will lead you in a whole different direction than you started out, I encourage you to just go with it. Many of my best projects started off as one thing and ended up being something completely different. Years ago I sat down to make a little mouse and ended up with a tiny troll named Louie but he became a beloved character that so many people love today. Anyway, thanks again for the kind words, it means a lot. Happy crafting!

I remember something about that.. I think it was mentioned in the comments before lol but ya, so many things can be made, just change the shape a bit. And thank you, the eye situation went really bad for a couple months. I'm still dealing with it but not nearly as bad now. The Dr said it'll take a long time for it to settle.
