These gnomes are so cute. :-) I saw before this many sock gnome tutorial, i was so curious. This a great tutorial too, but i don't make my gnomes with this tutorial, i used another tutorial mixed with my 1-2 little ideas, sorry. I started to make sock gnomes in 2022. I never made gnomes before, i like gnomes usually. So for example i use for my sock gnomes wooden pearl as nose and an own idea wooden pearls as hands and they suit to them great. :-) I made 3 of my gnomes to my friends as presents, but the most of my sock gnomes i keep them for myself. I plan i make more of them. Not too much, but more. I make them in every style, few of them are random, or special. I use to them buttons on their hat as decorations too, but not in the hat's corner, i use them at the hat's center. And i don't use white faux fur only as beard, i use them dark gray and brown too. Maybe once i will order beige-blonde faux fur too. Plus i make few girl gnomes too, not just boy gnomes. :-)

@@prairiescraps I see, maybe i will try to upload 1-2 photos of my girl gnomes later and if i can, i will link them here in an a reply, then you can see it across the link. :-) Maybe i will upload then to my DeviantArt, but not sure yet. If i will, i will link them from there, if not, i will link them from ImgUr.

Here are my gnomes with other kind of link (maybe it will work): i.imgur.com/jhx5dEA.jpg From the girl gnomes the yellow girl is one of my favorites. :-) As i see that way it's working finally and then you can see there my girl gnomes at the middle in the line. :-)

I know! Im having a hard time toi! But they do have argile and lamas, so we have to start thinking outside the box! Ive even seen felt hats, and I’ve used the fat quarter’s at walmart for .98 cents! So many to choose from! I know the socks are easiest... So when i find something, I will let you know, or should i say, I will let you gnome! Which reminds me! My mom like wizard of oz, so im doing a gnome with the blue gingham, and ruby red shoes, and holding a sign, “there’s no place like gnome”

Wizard of Oz - cute idea! I’ve made them with regular socks, but I don’t like them as much, except for the bottom sweater. I found some $1 fuzzy socks at Walgreens this week! I wonder if they’ll go on sale at some point for even less... Also, watch my gnome update, I’ve been using the grey and red thermal socks for hats and they are so cute!

Lovely gnomes! I love their wonky hats! I have a suggestion for you…. if you put a circle of scrap cardboard into the sock before you add the rice, your gnomes will stand upright more securely. Also, for countries which may suffer from weevil infestations in their food, using gravel or stones with some fibre stuffing works equally well.

I can't use a sewing machine that much anymore but the gnomes that are being used with the sewing machine are using a needle and thread is out of the question for me because my fingers and not really fingers anymore because of REMATORIAL ARTHRITIS AND THEY ARE REALLY BAD. So I have to use a glue gun to put things together. I love the way you make your beautiful GNOMES, SO CAN I USE A GLUE GUN TO PUT THE GNOME TOGETHER AND CAN YOU SHOW US PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN IN BAD SHAPE WITH USING CERTAIN PARTS OF THEIR BODY TO MAKE THINGS ANYMORE. I LOVE HOW YOU DID THIS PROJECT IN THE MAKING OF THIS BEAUTIFUL GNOMES. IT WOULD HELP US PEOPLE WHO STRUGGLE WITH EVERYDAY PROJECTS IT WILL REALLY HELP ME. Your tutorial makes this so easy and your Gnomes are adorable but I really struggled with cutting the socks. They just didn't seem to fit right. Maybe I needed longer socks. And I need one of those silicon fingers for sure!
@prairiescraps

Kharen Spence I even left the cut or open part of the sock on the top of the hat. I just used the string or twine to close it up at the top - I did both long and short hats and found that the shorter seemed more manageable, and used a piece of wire in the longer ones to make them stand up more. I definitely need the silicone fingers too!!!
@prairiescraps
@prairiescraps 5 жыл бұрын
Kharen Spence I cut the sock diagonally through the heal. The top is the “sweater” and the bottom is the hat. Do you have too big of body made with too much rice? Or maybe you have a shorter sock. My socks are the crew size.

Hi. LOVE your tutorial. These are the cutest I have seen yet. What is the price range you sell these for at the craft fair? Just want to know to see if its cost effective to make for public sale. Thanks. PS, the volume was fine on my computer.

Use a stick to press down when using hot glue and then you won't burn your fingers.

I have watched several how to videos now and I have noticed several with crooked beards. Since the beard is such an important element, I think it is important that to get it on straight. I love the collided noses but I do not have make up. What else could be used on the noses?
@prairiescraps
@prairiescraps 4 жыл бұрын
Gloria Koch you could use a wooden bead for the nose or use pink paint. You can get really cheap blush at the dollar store, too. I only use this blush for crafting- it’s about 20 years old!

I dont understand and I could not see too good on how you are cutting his beard with the exacto knife. you said you dont want to cut ithe fur all the way through then you turned it over and cut it through ???? can you explain it more or help me visual it.
@prairiescraps

You only cut through the backing of the fur and then pull the fur apart. If you cut through the fur, it comes apart.

Cindy M I like this size because I keep the top there as stuffing for the hat. I think a tube sock might be too much fabric in there, which would be wasted.
