I was craving chocolate cake so bad this morning to have with my coffee, and with the lack of sleep with a 9 month old, I searched youtube and when this guy popped up I knew I’d try his because I trust his recipes, and let me tell you, this is THE BEST mug cake I have ever tried, it tastes amazing! I just made this and it's easy and so good. It turned out light, moist and delicious. Made the house smell nice too. I topped it with dark chocolate baking chips. Because it's in a mug it can easily be eaten warm. Careful, it'll be hot at first. I used a 22oz oven/microwave safe mug and microwaved it 90 secs. I've got a 1100 watt microwave I think. It's more than enough to satisfy chocolate cravings. I'm happy that I didn't have to bake a whole cake. This is perfect for a single person. Quick cleanup. I love to bake but sometimes a person just wants a quick tasty snack. Thank you for the recipe.

This was so good, a lot better than the mug cakes I’ve tried before! It tastes sooooo good with chocolate chips like he recommended but if you don’t have chocolate chips it still tastes amazing! Definitely recommend!

What a simple and delicious recipe. I used just 2.5 tbsp of sugar and it was plenty sweet. Cooked in a 1000 watt microwave for 1 min and 15 sec. Thanks John, it was scrumptious.

The best recipe ever. My first time to try this & I doubled up the ingredients just to make 2 mugs. And I don’t have fresh milk, so subs with choc milk instead. Microwave it for 5 mins (every oven/microwave works differently) & topped it with peanut butter ice cream! Yums! Fyi, it does increase in size once you microwave it. So use a bigger mug. I use almost similar like his, and put the batter half. Once cooked, it increase in size & leave only 1 inch from the top of the cup.

I just made this, but veganized it by substituting the oil with 1 tblsp of apple sauce and 1 tblsp of raw almond butter, as well as substituting the whole milk with unsweetened almond and coconut milk, and used vegan chocolate chips. I also added a bit if orange zest! Amazing! I'm a fan and enjoy watching your videos! Thank you! Amazingly delicious!

Okay John let me start by saying I will eventually try this recipe -looks FABULOUS-. But alas right now I’m eating low carb (inserts pout)... Now on to my story, yes I said story please read all the way through. So it’s almost 10:00PM here in AZ I’ve been up since 5AM this morning and promised work I’d make cookies for tomorrow. I have just finished with three batches of sugar cookie dough and during this ordeal; my Kitchen Aid mixing bowl decided that it will not lock in place anymore. I have to try and hold it down while simultaneously switching it on and off. What A Hoot! It is spinning, rocking, and flinging flour, eggs, and bits of dough every where. While in the past (post “Preppy Kitchen” discovery) I would have either: cried, cursed, given up or screamed to anyone who would listen; all I could think about was your inspiration and smile while battling the joys of kitchen mess-creation. I love your videos and that you share the mishaps instead of re-takes and show it to your fan in it’s true form. All that being said I now have a new out look on the messes I make while attempting to create greatness and a bit of sugary joy so I can share with others. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! ❤️

I did that and even went beyond!!!! I replaced the oil with 1tblsp of raw almond butter and 1 tblsp of unsweetened applesauce to make it closer to wfpb cake. Oil belongs in cars, not our bodies!

I know this was a video two years ago but I tried it today and it’s the best mug cake I’ve ever made!! All the others online tasted funny, or had a weird texture but yours is perfect! Instead of chocolate chunks I sprinkled powdered sugar on top and it was amazing! Love your videos!

I might be to late to share this, but I hope this helps some people: To make sure your mug cake doesn't explode, put it on a low heat, power 6 worked the best for me. Also, if the cake starts to rise out of the mug, open the door and let its deflate again for a few seconds to ensure it doesn't fall out. It taste really good and fudgy, so I encourage you to make this! :)
