Hey Charlie, My husband purchased an Eb flute from you in June 2016, I'm playing songs its been lots of fun. I also love the flute bag and butterfly fetish. I wired on a blue faceted Peruvian opal on top of the fetish. It looks so sweet. One of the most sweetest gifts I ever recieved. very special purchase from you.♡ Thanks again I have a couple of questions for you about tuning it. kate

You are welcome! I regularly use tobacco stalks and elderberry to make flutes as well. You can use just about any type of hollow weed or plant.

What a super awesome idea. I have a small plot of sunflowers that I sow for appearance and food for birds to make winter storage from (only collect enough seeds for next years planting). I am going to see if I have good enough stalks to make simple whistles to give away.

Charlie thank you so much for this video. I bought your book and this video sure helped me understand the building of the flute. I found a hollow stalk of something and it plays. I got lucky for a first try. Thanks again.

Excellent video! My wife & I grew a handful of sunflowers years ago, harvested and kept the stalks for future use. I have a few ready for making into flutes. After watching this video I feel a bit more confident in making a decent playable sunflower stalk flute. Thanks for the book and sharing your skills.

Hello Charlie & Jessie, thanks for a great video always so many hints and tips ..here in England I have made some mini flutes from wild teasel it's hard to find a piece that is straight with a large enough diameter, I will be encouraging the kids to grow sunflowers next year - grow your own flutes they will love it.

Charlie, have you tried “foam safe CA?” I build model planes from balsa wood. The foam safe CA doesn’t fume as much, hardly at all, as the standard CA. It is a little more expensive but not exorbitant. I enjoy your videos and have been trying some of your techniques on PVC flutes for my Grandchildren. NO BURNING though. Bob

It's amazing how you can make what sounds like a concert quality instrument out of a sunflower stalk!!! Can heated tree sap be used in the place of synthetic glues?
@bradfordcraig26674 жыл бұрын
I have the same question as Super Glue seems to be contrary to the idea of using all organic supplies that can all be grown at home.
@trmwyldshade14824 жыл бұрын
@@bradfordcraig2667 From past experience I have found that different types of tree sap become liquefied after being heated and then harden, amber like after cooling. Most likely the temperature will change the properties as well. Perhaps you could experiment. Good fortune to you

@BlueBearFlutes7 жыл бұрын
Hi Bradlee, thank you for your comment. Sunflower flutes are not something we offer on the website as you may have discovered, however we can take a limited number of orders as supplies are limited as well. Please feel free to email me using the form on my website www.bluebearflutes.com so we can talk. Thanks!

Hi Richard, this is awesome! I do hope you can make me one or have some in stock. My mother passed away on sunday, she loved sun flowers and she loved me playing the NAF. It would mean so much to me to be able to play for her on a sun flower stalk... I live in the Netherlands. I sent you a message on your contact form.

Hi Liesbet, I also lost my both my parents within the last decade. What a wonderful tribute to your mother! If you end up making a playable flute, please post the results!
