Great tutorial! One issue is that you might have noticed is that your terrain has a "stepping" effect that shows up especially in flat areas. To avoid that, you need to make sure the image you're using for the displacement has a 16-bit colour depth. That'll give your heightmap a much more precise gradient.

Yup and you can switch the sRGB to Non-Color Data also ^^ it ccan mess with the normal calculation

If anyone is wandering, those scenes are called styleframes, it's a group of images that showcase an idea , mood , style etc. just in-case if you really guys interested about this kinda of art

Hi, Mr Popo. Thank you for this amazing breakdown. I just also want to personally thank you for what you did for me a few years back. I was very new to animation and you had a live stream and I remember asking you if you use the animation principles in your work. What followed was a more than detailed explanation on animation and that single event changed my direction with animation. Thank you for all you do and all the knowledge you share. 🙏🏾

Hey, you should look into using adaptive subdivision for your displacement maps, you'll get such an amazing result without the viewport slowdown while editing 👌

Is it possible to save the terrain as a heighmap with a 1009*1009? It would be an alternative to Gaea, at least for a landscape layer in UE5

Why not using Cycles Experimental features adding to the plane a subdivision modifier and checking the option for adaptative subdivision?
@blakeallred90972 жыл бұрын
Maybe because it's an experimental feature? Might not be as stable. I thought the same thing though.

Great breakdown, the only thing that I did;t like is the idea of storytelling and that it is something you are focusing on. It sounds like fluff, especially when the next thing you do is recreate the shot the same way rather than showing your spin of it. Nothing personal, just a thought. Storytelling is essential but it means nothing without the proper execution. So let's not dwell on how important this is or that is is, all the pieces need to come together in the end.

Interesting tutorial but your dialog comes across like a recording that has intermittent chunks of seconds missing and it makes it hard to follow. I would suggest scripting your video dialogue step by step and take a bit more time explaining what and where you are going even if the video doubles in length... Slowing video playback as it is does not solve the clunkiness. The ideas and over all information would be better absorbed by the viewer and the extra time index would turn nobody away. Cheers.
@BoutaibYassine2 жыл бұрын
You’v got a great point there! It looks scripted with the cuts due to previous feedbacks, my videos where too long (one hour and up always) and had so much “uh….wait, let’s try this, basicalyyy…” etc. will work on this more to find a great balance! Ty so much for the support 😊

Create them yourself then. It's all a matter of perspective. Some designers find their time better spent on other aspects of a project instead of creating every texture. Same reason why 3D artists buy kitbash packs, even though they are easy to recreate.
