The size depends on what size ball you use and whether you are using fabric or ribbon. I use 2.5" balls, because I like my ornaments just a little smaller than the traditional 3" ones. Fabric is 2.5"x1.5". Ribbon is usually 2.5"x1.25". But the size of the pieces and the distance between the layers will depend on the material and the size of the ball.

Check out my website too if you're interested in trying out a kit...Each kit has everything you need (pre-cut) to make one ornament, plus a free pdf pattern/instructions. :)

I never dare to use pins in ornaments because a friend's dog ate one with pins... and he had so many pins lodged into his stomach! He had surgery to remove them, but it was a bit deal!! They are beautiful though, I wonder if a hot glue gun could be used instead of pins?

That's terrible. I do have a disclaimer on my pdf directions and kits that warns customers that they are made with many pins and are not dog or toddler toys. I'm sure you could craft something sort of similar using glue, but it would be very difficult to make this kind of pattern.

You need to tell the size of the fabric and ribbon and how many pieces of each are needed. 😊

what size are you cutting you material?
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments 2 ай бұрын
The size of the material depends on the type of material (fabric vs. ribbon) and the size of the ball. I use a 2.5" ball. The fabric pieces are usually 2 1/2"x1 1/2". The wired ribbon is usually 2.5"x1.25". I hope that helps. Happy crafting!

I'm so confused ~ you started with one colored design and enduded up making a red and white one? Is it the same as what you did at the beginning of the video
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments

The red and white ornament is just the one I use to show how to make a bow. You made a good point. I need to explain that in the video and end with a picture of the one I started with. Thanks for the feedback.

You said "the ball that comes in the kit"..... what " kit" are you referring to?? This video came up in my suggestions list on YT. Im a little confused....lol 🤔😂

These videos were created to supplement the directions I give people who purchase ornament kits from me. You can find the kits on my website: www.peaceloveandornaments.com Sorry about the confusion!

You never tell us what size the ribbon is how we're supposed to know I'm not buying your kit. I just wanted to know how to do it. What size is your ribbon to make the pattern? I can see you're doing the pattern. And I can copy that but I don't know what size the ribbon is
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments

The videos are here to supplement the pdf directions I include with the kits, in case someone needs to see it. I don't give the size because the size depends on what size ball you use and whether you are using fabric or ribbon. I use 2.5" balls, because I like my ornaments just a little smaller than the traditional 3" ones. Fabric is 2.5"x1.5. Ribbon is usually 2.5"x1.25". But the size of the pieces and the distance between the layers will differ depending on the size of the ball. If/when I make another video I'll be sure to explain that. Thanks for the feedback.

I think what everyone is asking is how wide is the ribbon, not the size of the piece.
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments Жыл бұрын
I often use 2.5" wide ribbon and cut it in half so it's 1.25". But I've used 1.5" and just sliced a 1/4" off or 3" wide and cut accordingly. It really doesn't matter what size you start with, as long as it's at least 1.25" wide and you get the final piece cut to the size you need for whatever size ball you're using.

Thank you. This information is very helpful. I love the color scheme, not the usual red and green. Not that there is anything wrong with the traditional colors. This white and blue gives it a fresh air. Love what you've done. It's beautiful!@@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments

I took a chicken kayenne and made a circle of fabric and stuffed it and put it in the chicken can and made a pin cushion and I put all my pins. I loaded up with pen so it's easier to get to the pens. Because I run up stabbing my fingers and stuff. And I can't do that. It's not good for you to do that. You can get metal poison from that get infected fingers. So yeah, make a pin cushion and you can get to your pins. A lot quicker and a lot better without sticking yourself

Those ornaments are very pretty, but they must weigh a couple of pounds each with all of those pins.
