I attached a key ring to a white tail deer antler for my girlfriend to carry her keys. It forms a 'Y' and fits in her hand perfectly, and it's sharpened to a wicked point.

Yep; I've always got a plastic fork, knife, and spoon in my backpack/sturdy not cheapies; you used to be able to tell white vs. black but nowadays, you've got to use your own thumb to know. Usually the black ones are more sturdy. Also, dental floss and a little coffee straw. You'd be surprised how strong a little coffee straw can be.

Jason, a long tme ago when I was in my 20's I occasionally went to a "Home show" that came to my city once a year. In the kitchen section along with all the food storage and food preparation items they always had a person demonstrating an extremely sharp knife by cutting vegetables. Everyone was extremely interested because he easily cut tomatoes into slices as thin as 1/8 inch. These knives were made of 100% glass, no metal at all. They cost $2 each and I'm sure this fact tells my age. I don't know if they even make them any more but I'd buy one if I could. Best regards, David

Oddly, that is illegal in my current state since the modification is ONLY for a violent purpose (unless you claim you do it to pick your teeth, LOL), though the non-metallic knives are NOT. OTF or dual-sided sharpened blades are only for violent use according to the law - even if only self-defense, so they're forbidden. I'm allowed any one-sided blade fixed knife up to 10" blade and any non-automatic folder up to 5" (a thumbstud or flipper is non-automatic - you just can't have an auto or assisted knife). Why you can have a thumb-stud or flipper or button-lock release, which is virtually as fast as an assisted opener is a mystery to me. The laws in my state are made by people who do not understand either knives or firearms, so they are by nature irrational. You can carry a 10+1 round semi-auto with a second 10-round mag you can swap in less than a second, but can't have a single mag with more than 10 rounds!!! Go Figure. A Push Knife is also illegal, but if you have a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife with an awl or Phillips head screwdriver you can just open the attachment perpendicular to the handle (as it is designed to do) and have a push knife. I don't think any cop or DA in ANY state in the union would realize anything's wrong in carrying a Swiss Army knife - even in California, Illinois or New Jerseystan.

Also on luggage scanner x-ray machine they still can see antler and if thick enough and also it depend what angle and what is over or under it those plastic things will be visible as well as wood handle of plastic knife...also keeping it in will not set metal detector but they check on random every few persons on most airports,so do not attempt bringing those to airplanes if u are not ready for big trouble...ofc sometimes it might be missed but it's dumb also why u need self defense weapon on airplane one of the most secure places on earth?

@@rtfmmycompany4498 Really? You’re giving the TSA more credit and smarts than they deserve. They look for known shapes not antlers. They don’t know what an antler is for. People may want to bring something for their destinations, not necessarily for the airplane. Generally, you bring things you can improvise as weapons and not actual weapons. Pens, locks, books, umbrellas etc
@davidhandyman7571

@@rtfmmycompany4498 I was an Aviation Security Officer here in Australia. If the operator cannot identify every item in a bag, the bag has to be opened and either items removed and rescreened until the operator is satisfied there is nothing of concern or a physical search is conducted. Plastic knives are not hard to identify. If it is on the person, a body scan which is being done more often on every person these days will identify it. Trying to carry a knife onto a plane will most likely get you in big trouble. If you need to take a knife on a flight, pack it in your booked luggage where it is not a problem.

A lot of people think ceramic kitchen knives are non-detectable - bad mistake. While the ceramic blade itself is non-metallic, the companies that make & sell these knives put metal filings into the plastic handle material specifically so they are detectable. However, several knife makers are making non-metallic fixed-blade knives that can be easily bought on the internet through the major knife shops in the $50 - $125 range. Bone Tactical sells a non-metallic NPE Ghost "neck knife" with a non-metallic Kydex-like sheath and a paracord neck loop. The loop has a snap fastener so nobody can grab it from behind & try to strangle you with it. It'll come apart. The blade is made of zirconia carbide, which is much harder than steel & is hair-popping sharp. They also sell a non-metallic attachment that will allow you to fix the sheath horizontally or vertically to your belt for IWB/OWB concealed carry. The knife has a patterned rubber handle that shouldn't take fingerprints, so the knife is disposable. There are no markings on it to indicate where it is made. One nice thing about wearing it as a neck knife is that anybody who does an outside the clothes quick patdown (police call this a Terry patdown) never seem to check the center of the chest. They will check the beltline, armpits, down the legs for an ankle weapon & even arms for something strapped to your forearm, but I've never seen a Terry patdown check the center of the chest. While hard & razor sharp, zirconia carbide is also brittle & can break if dropped or twisted too hard against an obstacle (they sell replacement blades cheaply). They sell a more serious weapon, the Bonedurantium Ghost Spike. It is made of nonmetallic kevlar & fiberglass. It is very durable & can last a lifetime. It also comes with a non-metallic sheath that can be worn like the Ghost Knife or, with the optional attachment, can be affixed IWB on a belt. This is NOT a knife. The sides are thin, but not made for slashing. It is purely a penetration device like a dirk. Total weight with sheath is only (IIRC) about 4 oz. If you want a push-dagger (punch blade) that can get through TCA, get a dowel that fits your palm from pinkie to thumb. Drill a hole through it about 3/4 of the way up. You can include the dowel, a decent sized nail & some duct tape (I always have some wrapped around a Bic lighter for emergencies) and just dump them in different places in your luggage. This is sometimes called a "suitcase carry." Once through the TCA line, you can go to a bathroom, put the nail through the hole in the dowel so it sticks out perpendicularly, and secure with duct tape. You hold it with the dowel nestled in your palm as you make a fist with the nail protruding between index and middle finger & you have a force multiplier to your punch that can take out a heavyweight boxer with one punch - or you can keep it in your belt on your weak side &, while grappling with an opponent, deliver enough pokes to his side or abdomen to create the space to flee (or bring out a primary weapon if you are carrying IWB). Some cops carry variations of this - or the Ka-Bar Law Enforcement 2 and a half (or so) inch blade to create space if a perp is trying to take their firearm or prevent them from drawing it. A little ingenuity can go a long way. CRKT makes a good cheap version and ShivWorks makes an excellent fixed-blade "Clinch Pick" with the UPPER side of the blade sharpened (don't forget & put your thumb on it). They also have the best punch blade. Both can be bought online with both sides or one side sharpened - for states that only allow one sided blades. Since these are not impervious to metal detectors, check state laws before going into an NPE with one. I walked into a local police station in Florida to fill out a form, forgetting I had a Ghost Knife around my neck and neither the metal detector nor the wand picked it up (whew!!!). The knife was legal - except in places like the cop shop.

Jason, jn the early 70's Congress asked the CIA why they bought wholesale quantities of the classic metal Cross pens. The CIA finally admitted they were issued to every field agent because they are solid metal but work as a dart or stilleto, and airline security never looked at them. And this was a period when security was TIGHT all over. The TSA still doesn't look at them.

A fine covert edged item can be made from a credit card or plastic I.D. card. Get one of those "quickie" knife sharpeners that has 2 carbide pieces set in a "V" configuration. Pull one of the long sides through it a few times, not much pressure required. It will then be sharp enough to cut like a knife (but not worth beans as a poker). It won't have a safe "handle," but can be gripped with reasonable safety if you practice holding it a certain way, edge out. This can even be done to a current credit card without affecting its usability as a credit card.

There are many different types of plastics. For example, Plexiglas is Acrylic which can be used to make transparent windows. ABS is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene which is used to make some types helmets as well as Lego. Lexan is Polycarbonate which is much stronger and tougher than either Plexiglas or ABS. In fact, Lexan is used to make shatterproof eyeglasses, defensive shields and bullet proof glass. CIA letter openers are made from glass-filled Nylon.

My concern with most of these non-detectable knives is that if they were discovered by authorities, deniability would become difficult, perhaps even impossible. As such, any useful item that comes with plausible deniability would seem best. Common items that might be normally carried would seem optimal. I like the yellow tent peg. I could see having two in a backpack, both sharpened, but with dirt caked onto them, illustrating their natural use. Sure, not tucked in one's pants, at least not until one approaches a timeframe when that might be most suitable. The carpenter pencil would be useful as well.

Sir, I would ask that you also consider the use of ‘innocuous’ items (singular or combined) for the same use (hypothetically) in case inspection by magnetometer or X-ray machine is followed up by a frisk/manual search…such as things that don’t have ‘pointy’ ends or sharp edges which ‘telegraph’ as weapon(s). They can be prepped in advance or opportunistic (on site/scene availability). It is a mindset that has worked for me for many years.

Saw one with a border agent that made the tip of a clear bic pen into a razor sharp spike. Gave a bunch of them to a female friend who had to take a trip to Mexico. She drove one through the hand of an attacker.

Wow, if you include the el-cheapo cap, you can literally have it clipped to your pocket! PRO TIP: Don't try and cap the pointy end, Melvin.

FThe graphite on that carpenter's pencil or any others will break off very easily but they'll still work. Very interesting. You have several I'd never thought of. Another item that would work is a plastic hoof pick for cleaning out the dirt and mud/rocks in a horse's hooves. The shape is already karambit style?

Take a magic marker and pull out the felt tip. Now take some epoxy putty like JB weld putty and make a tip out of JB weld putty get the putty deep into the hole where the felt tip was inserted.. and make a pointy tip with the putty once it's dry hard you can sand or sharpen the tip you now have a sharpie that is an extremely fantastic self-defense weapon

One thing about a tactical pen that looks like a tactical pen sometimes they are confiscated.. I like the all metal zebra pen it doesn't look like a tactical pen but it's extremely strong for self-defense I'll tell a flashlight it can be a skinny but 6 in Long can be used for striking

I carry a Super Sharpie marker in my pocket for work, but it goes everywhere with me, every day of the week. Even though it's blunt on the end, a simple strike to the face would be bad enough from one of those, but a strike to the temple from it would be potentially devastating.

There is a good carry belt called the Zero Belt from Tecnor that has only a plastic clasp. I have 2. I'ts stiff enough to hold a full-sized carry pistol & other accoutrements, but has no metal if you just want to carry NPE non-metallic devices.

My main interest is in a weapon, that even when found doesnt raise suspicion or legal issues. Purpose, carrying a self defence weapon in a country where even carrying a paring knife could get you into trouble. One could carry a small file. Those are extremely pointy and totally legal to carry around

Ceramic kitchen knives would be totally non-metalic, except for the steel bar that the government makes the manufacturers install in the handle. If you carefully cut through the back of the grip you will come to that bar. If you dig around that bar, and remove it, you'll have a non-metalic, non detectable knife that's as sharp as a razor for slashing, and (if your ceramic knife came with a sharp point, you'll have a stabbing weapon as well.

I've gotten a few commercially available cutting/poking items and taken them to concerts in my area. I don't go often, but I do want to have something if needed. I like trying to come up with these sorts of things, too. I was thinking g of trying to fashion a "belt" out of a cable. Even if its metal, it might pass for something innocuous.

Please explain what possible use anyone would have for the spatula? If I am in my kitchen, I can have any gun i want. But even if I can't, I have access to many actual knives. But if I try to take a spatula onto a flight, I suspect that even the TSA is going to find that odd.

Do you still sell those spy mini personal defense weapons you showed on this video? I think they are cool and would love to have a few if you do. I have my tactical pens which are great too and I carry one daily now. I also have the titanium version as well. My family loves the tactical pens. I also want this spy mini in my load out. Thanks again and have a blessed day Jason!

These are all great. Then there is the last ditch, extra set of keys, hold the keys in your palm with one key sticking straight out between each finger at your opponent. You will have 3 legal metal keys straight to the keys, throat, and to rake down the chest/leg you can get it. Stay safe out there!

When I BEGAN High school I had a daily 3 bullies routine issue. Even with a full leg plaster cast my encounter's were daily. Each knew to stay out of harms way of my crutches, big time. To carry necessary papers I had a cardboard based PeeChee, folded in half allowed my Pee Chew to ride into my churches. Routinely I had two of Mom's sewing pin needles that preceded out the tip of both shoes. Them upper class men bullies jump high and far, kinda like being stung by a wasp, I guess. That PeeChee could be held in EITHER hand (ambidextrous South Paw myself) & also necessitated reinforcement by duct tape and other tapes. Still Bendable however, back handed or not my PeeChee and I were together & feared. I could pound a desk with those attached seats & all four feet would come up & off the ground. No person's two hands could remove it from my hands whatsoever. The bullies desperately needed at least a 4th guy to toy with me four months later without my crutches. Then one weekend something REALLY bad happened to them, they lived miles from each other as far as I knew. I had a job pumping diesel at a truck stop, cops even questioned me cuz I'm guessing them guys suggested I could be the culprit behind 6-7 cars being totalled. The guy who lived way out away from school resided at a home built on the corner, ya know, so I HEARD. Of course I had no idea at all ABOUT their troubles that happened Sunday evening, dark probably too. But when I walked out of my audio/video 1st period class, those 3 punks were there just like usual. For some reason, maybe a knock knock joke caused me to smile as I stepped into C Hall. NEVER ever again could them guys see me at school or otherwise or even when a few years LATER and they were Jock Seniors, look at ME & me not be smiling. Maybe they were drugged up or potted out but those itches trembled like a tree leaf on hurricane day. Some other little things occured and for some reason I was deemed "Crazy"! I never had to fight anyone in all four years of high school. I wasn't a bad ass or a jock per set, I let my reinforced peeChee resolve discrepancies. My true kind loving nature survived just like my peeChee 42 years after those FACTS...
