I think the best type of plane depends entirely on your personal preference! For airtime, gliders are definitely the best. For distance, you can make gliders, hybrids, and darts all work very well. My personal favorites are planes that look cool and fly well too. It doesn't matter to me if they are darts, gliders, or hybrids.

The thick and thin layers in this plane do not like to cooperate during the folding sequence. The candeling after completion is testament to the segregation of these layers.

Try leaving a gap of about 1mm from the center crease when you fold the corners at 1:15 Also, avoid using thick paper for this plane.
