I think the fact that pages are only kept by the glue isn't strong, it would be better if you had those big staplers for book binding and did an additional staple very close to the spine to make sure they are not going anywhere. The guillotine is what really wraps this up so nice because the book has super straight edges and it all comes together as professional.

Hi!! This sounds silly but could you show us a bit more about the cover specifically and how you printed it? I have a laserjet home printer but last time I tried to print on something like cardstock (which weighs less than the paper you’re using for your cover) it didn’t work and I wasted a LOT of toner. I’d just love to see that process because I bind hardcover and paperback books and have yet to find a solution for this.

Change the paper type settings on your printer to card. It will print out better. Not sure if this response is still relevant lol. But since there was no adequate response then, someone else may benefit now.

I've been following your tutorials lately, it's been great learnign how to program in OpenSesame, mostly because of the online experimentation option. I was so surprised when I saw this tutorial that I coulnd't help myself but to comment. I'm a big fan of short stories and bookbinding, I'm definitely trying this method! Also, I would like to know if there is a digital format option for purchasing these stories, as I'd be really happy to read them! It was fun and unexpected to see so many of the things I enjoy in one place! Thank you so much for all your tutorials! They allowed us (the staff at the lab) and our students to run experiments even without access to our lab during the pandemic, and now it made me want to try and print my very own book! Greetings from México!

Hi Roberto, thanks for the comment! I haven't put the stories online because I like the idea of physical books. On the other hand, this is quite limiting because shipping can be unrealistically expensive. Hmm ... I'm going to think about this.

This was perfect - exactly what I was looking for. One question - How long does it take - I mean labor hours. I know you have to wait for it to dry, but let's say I wanted to print and bind 10 books. Could I produce 1 per hour on average? Or more? Or less? I'll find out when I try, but it would be nice to have a ballpark.

Hi Sebastian, thank you for posting this. I'm thinking about using your method to bind a pdf of an ebook I printed out on 8.5x11 office paper. How long does this method generally hold up? Also, do you think it would made the book more durable if you used a saw to make cuts every 1 cm (to allow more glue in there)?
2 жыл бұрын
I've started making books of this type around two years ago now, and it seems they're quite durable even after extensive reading. I don't think that cutting the paper will add much. However, getting actual bookbinding glue and using mull (as shown in the video) does make a big difference.
