After calling in sick on KZbin for a bit I did a lot of research and wanted to do something as epic as my Seahorse I did a while back....
Seahorse Link: • HOW TO: Make a SEAHORS...
So I did a whole load of planning and this is what I come up with, I had fun, but set aside a whole week/maybe 2 for this one!
Video Features
-Making simple canes
What are canes? well, Polymer clay can be turned in to designs that when you cut it to it you have a repeating pattern (a bit like a stick of rock you get at the seaside!) There are lots of techniques, some really complicated, but the ones I do for this tutorial are real simple!
-Turning ocra (light brown) coloured clay in to GOLD!
-How to make a PEACOCK shape
-How to make the canes into feathers
-How to make feathers
-How to make the eye and head features
-How to put the PEACOCK together
Tools:
-FIMO in cobalt blue, lime green, leaf green, peppermint, winsor blue, emerald, tropical green, ocra made in to gold, black & white
TILE for making & baking
-Craft knife, Tissue blade
-Dotting tools
-Plastic marking tools
A BIT ABOUT BAKING:
Baking: Use Polymer Clay packet instructions. Good tip is to bake no higher than 100 degrees celsius. It's better to bake at a lower temperature for longer, than higher for shorter. Larger clay items need longer- always check after 10 mins- sometimes things fall over in the oven & can be rescued at this point. Watch for burning! Especially white as it's quick to burn (don't know why...) and can turn yellow! Electric ovens work better as the temperature is even, gas oven temperatures fluctuate do not keep a steady temp for baking polymer clay.... I don't like to state baking times because all clay is different- there are so many different products and ovens, it's hard to advise....

Hi Gail, Wow, you have outdone yourself with this beautiful peacock. I love it! It has so much detail and shows how much talent you have.. Thank you for sharing it. I tried your seahorse (it turned out great) but this seems a bit challenging for me to try.

Thank you! Honestly, it's easy when you break it down to each stage ! It did take me over a week to do though, with being unwell & other commitments! The next few videos are going to be a little easier I think - thank you for watching 😁 I'd love to see your seahorse... facebook.com/thepolymerclaychannel - you can send it to me there if you'd like 😁
