Well I trust his methods I use it never fails and u can always check to see if it's perfectly centered. How easily with gauge and doing some measurements if u have doubts. Or us another methods. But Skylar bro awesome video hit me up.

Hello sir I'm thinking about getting this disc cutter but need an educated opinion. What is your level of confidence in using this to cut a 1" hole in Morgan's, silver eagles and challenge coins? I'm using coins to make rings that aren't really coin rings sometimes and I've been machining unwanted material off on the lathe but having that 1" piece of material to use in different applications would be very useful. I would be using a hydraulic press.

Do you have a video on how to size coin rings basically I really need to know where to start with the size end up at a size and how to do it thanks
@CoinRingsfromTheMint8 жыл бұрын
Yes I do. Many of my videos show sizing. Just look through some of my other videos depending on the type of coin you want to use. Thanks!

Permanent or non permanent marker? i remember i've seen a also a video someone marked the coin with an marker before annealing and said the coin has the right temparature when the mark remove from coin in the annealing process. Is this true?

Did you anneal the coin before punching it? I have a Swanstrom disc cutter and until I saw this video, would never have been brave enough to use for a Morgan. My "Tools to Get" list just got shorter! Thanks, Skyler!

Good video pal. Are these punches not suitable for 1mm only? Some of the more collectable coins I have are up to 3mm thick so what would you recommend for punching holes from those?
@CoinRingsfromTheMint8 жыл бұрын
+Junior J They might have that recommendation but I punch thick coins with it and it stands up better than any other punch I have used. I have punched probably hundreds of morgan dollars with mine since this video even and it hasn't had a single issue. They are a thick coin.

+Au60schild I am completely sold on hydraulic presses. There are some very nice ones out there but I find the harbor freight 6 ton hydraulic press to work well. can you buy a better one, most definitely but the harbor freight one will work fine. How can you say the hole is perfectly centered if all you are using is a felt tipped pen and lining it up by eye. There needs to be a more accurate way of positioning the coin under the punch.

+Coin Rings from The Mint - Change You Can Wear Thank you for the quick reply! That would actually work great I think. I'm 6'4 with fairly large hands. So speaking from experience skip Pepe tool. The product is made well however it takes much time to get the center whole and usually it turns out off by a millimeter, that turns out to a nightmare for the rest of the project. I have been working with this Pepe tool for a week and have had more problems then its worth. Jason Works is awesome!
@CoinRingsfromTheMint8 жыл бұрын
I agree with Jason works. I am friends with him and highly recommend his punches. But to be honest getting a hole in an unusual coin can be a problem if you don't have something like this. If you mark your coin correctly there is no reason it should be off. I do it all the time and don't have a problem.

I wish this trend never kicked off.All I see is millions of dollars worth of old money being turned into hundreds of dollars worth of junk. Using new coins is fine, whatever. But be certain, you aren't going to improve the value of a very old coin no matter how wonderful of a jeweler you think you are. Some things are best just left as they are.
