How to Make a Polymer Clay Pumpkin Charm / Bead : Thanksgiving Harvest DIY Jewelry

Celebrate the harvest season by learning to make these delightful pumpkin charms out of polymer clay. Easy, quick, and fun!
Supplies:
Polymer Clay (Sculpey, Fimo) Orange and brown
Toothpick
Craft knife
Paint brush and acrylic paint (red, yellow, white, brown)
Polymer clay glaze or Clear nail polish: amzn.to/2RNPGun
Eye pin (I made mine from 20 gauge wire)
Scrap 24 gauge wire

These are darlin'!! Playing with polymer clay is just good wholesome fun. Reminds me of my first experiences with playdoh in Sunday School....and that ever so distinct smell. It's been so long since I pulled out any of my polymer...it may all be dried up. These are a good reason to see...and either condition or just buy some new. Isn't it insane how fast time is moving? It makes me feel downright dizzy. My first grand-baby is due in February...oh, I am giddy with that excitement! Been meaning to direct you to a band who has a member that plays tin whistle and the uilleann pipes.The band is Nightwish....may not be your cup of tea (symphonic metal), but, I know you'd appreciate the talent, and particularly, Troy Donockley. He is British. Most of the band is from Finland, an extremely genius group of composers, and they have recently welcomed a new lead vocalist, Floor Jansen, from The Netherlands. She is classically trained in opera. The mix is quite extraordinary, but certainly not for everyone. If you get a chance, you can check out a couple of numbers on KZbin that feature Troy's talents. If you type in Nightwish Wacken Open Air (festival in Germany every year), the whole playlist should come up. "The Last of the Wilds" is entirely instrumental. I LOVE it! The other one featuring the pipes is, "I Want My Tears Back." If you feel brave and want to sample some more....start with "Ghost Love Score," another of my favorites. Floor has an incredible range. Their bassist, Marco Hietala, lends vocals, too. He can sound smooth as butter, or raspy/gruff, which is an odd pleasantness to Floor's incredible voice. I hope you enjoy.

I wasn't aware nail polish was compatible with polymer clay. I spoke with someone employed by Polyform aka Sculpey that stated water based sealants were the only type recommended. She stated after time the nail polish will compromise the clay, changing the polymers. She said the clay could become soft, sticky, foamy, start collapsing on itself, or a combo of any of those issues. I told her I utilized either Future liquid floor wax or water clean-up Varathane sealant on my polymer clay items. She stated both were excellent options although she had not heard of using Future liquid floor wax. I am curious, do you have access to any items you covered in nail polish that are at least one year old? If yes I would like to know the current condition of the item(s). If all is well I would like to share that info with that employee. It might be helpful if they could reword their clay accompanying info. Plus the opportunity to introduce crackle and/or glitter polishes to seal creations = endless ideas.In order to do my own testing I will be adding clear polish to a few small items later today. The one year wait for time-tested results might be avoided if you have already accomplished that goal. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I enjoy your tutorials.

Very cute and easy to follow tutorial. I love working with polymer clay and was only introduced to it about a month ago but since have made about 5-6 sets of jewelry including pendants, earrings and bracelets it's quite addictive. That is what brought me to your channel because I was looking to make bales for my jewelry.
