Such a fun and light-hearted tutorial - especially for someone that has the flu! The concept is lovely. I honestly cannot select a favorite, all are so versatile and interesting. I think the stripes add a new dimension but all were grand. FYI - in addition to the flu shot years ago I decided I would take all preventive steps possible to avoid the flu. I do not know if it is possible 'over the pond' but I always obtain my flu shot as soon as they are available. This year it was late August. In my area few people have the flu or even colds that early so the meds have time to actually start functioning before most people become ill. Just wanted to share that with Mrs Evans, and possibly any of her fans.

I appreciate seeing the difficulties and the advice about the difficulties (get butch with the rolling). The fast vids that insist it's all easy make me feel like a fool for even messing with polymer clay. Much better to see how things actually go for someone who is skilled and experienced. Thank you. P.S. I enjoy the extruder squeak myself.

Get well very soon oh Unruly One, and thank you so much for soldiering on through feeling rotten! I really enjoyed the look of the retro spiral cane, it has so many uses. But, you know what? The best of all was your stripy retro cane - love it, and can see ways of having beautiful effects and great fun! With love and a hug (wearing a Hasmet suit of course) from your (official) Internet Stalker xx

I’m so sorry that you’re ill. Hope you get better soon. I think this is one of the nicest canes I’ve seen. My son just bought me a clay extruder for my birthday, and I’ve been after ideas of what to use it for......this looks super cool and I can’t wait to give this a try. Thank you for sharing.

Those extruded things always remember me on Gustav Klimt. I love his paintings so I love your cane. Your idea to "mixtrude" is also very funny and it looks really good. I hope you are in bed and somebody is reading out our best wishes to you and makes chicken soup for your soul. Get healthy very soon!

Hi. The spiral canes that I make are not smooth spirals. They are full of sharp bends and look tortured. I think it may be something that I'm doing in the rolling down in size of the cane. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or how to fix things. What do you think? A vid on Not Distorting Your Spiral Canes?
@UnrulyHousewife6 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm.... Try to chill your canes before reducing them, or at least let them rest for a log while. x
@yelloworangered6 жыл бұрын
I see other people hand rolling their spiral canes, but a vid by polymer clay tutor shows her sort of squishing the cane to make it longer. I tried your suggestion to let it all cool to the same temp and did her light squishing technique and it all turned out much better. :) Thanking you and congrats to you and your new husband. As Miss Bates said in Emma, "Isn't it wonderful when good people get together?" :)

Well, this ol' lady is sooo tired from working all day trying to keep up with the youngsters at the big clinic. I'm worn out but you've inspired me to "get cracking", as you say over there. That's just the blue I wear everyday in my uniform so that's the color for me. I'm sorry about your flu. You always know flu 'cause you feel like a rather large truck hit you head on. ha! I was wondering if you could tell me what you clean your roller and that little plexiglass plate with? Mine is always getting so smudged and smeared with each color of clay. I'm very new at this so i think I may be just playing with the clay too long or something. I have the huggies wipes, but they don't work very well on cleaning the tools. They are great for cleaning up my hands. Thanks for your videos, your comments, advice and the great and easy canes. You rock!

i use window wipes,or glass cleaner wipes, & let them dry before using again,

Thank you! I use wipes and dry with kitchen paper but the best thing is often white or translucent white scrap clay. Roll it around to pick up all the fluff and clay colours! xx
