Wow, an oldie but goodie. Look what you've done since this video was made. I needed to make a cozie for a friend's pot and this is a great reminder how to do that. I like the overhang on the lid too. Thanks Dixie.

If you tape the edges before making them round, you could use one long piece of tape and work with it in the flat. Should be easier and neater.

Thank you for your practicality. I plan to hike the AT in 2023. This has been valuable for me. 4/2/23. I just made a cozy for my AT thru-hike. I fly out of Manchester, NH for Atlanta, GA tomorrow and will begin my AT thru-hike on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. Thank you for your advice in your videos. I will name myself The NH Peakbagger because that is all I have done over the past 35 years: NH 48 Four-Thousand-Footers, NE Four-Thousand-Footers & the NE Hundred-Highest.

Excellent video. I was looking for a way to keep from ruining cans of paint, varnish, etc. when I store them in my non-insulated shed/shop through the winter. I was thinking of putting them in a large cooler, but I'd rather keep them on shelves than in a cooler. You've given me a possible way to do that. Thanks!

Glenn May Dixie, I've already made a pot cozy and used it several times. It's a great idea. I'm going to add a baffle, connecting it on 1 side so I can pry up the unconnected side so my oatmeal packets won't fall over. When I'm not using it for oatmeal there will just be more insulation on the bottom.

It is awesome that you're writing the ebook, it would have been cool to read it for my preparation. Some good things to include in the ebook are gear list/ideas, mental changes, physical changes, food ideas, and weird trail menus. Also things we should check out while on and off the trail. For example different places you stopped at... restaurants, hostels, tourist sites, or anything fun or exciting things in the area if/when enjoying down time I start my NOBO in 9 Days!!! That stinks that I will miss you doing Trail Magic, it would have been awesome to meet you and the rest of your trail family.

I like that you showed rolling the pot/lid as a measurement! I used a measuring tape and ended up a tad short because the material is thick. Had to cut it again. duh :-) TIP: wait to cut the lid top after you've completed the bottom - since the material increases the circumference of the bottom, you'll want a larger top piece so its sides don't splay out when it overlaps the bottom half. ALSO: I used half-width strips of alum tape to wrap the edges to reduce bulk. So far, it's held up fine.

What I would like to see in the e-book is a discussion of how you plan on getting your water each day and also how much you should carry with you. I typically find that I carry too much water because I don't want to get stuck without it. Did you ever run out of water and not have any good source to replenish it nearby? Also, how much fuel for your stove did you carry with you and is it any problem finding it in towns near the trail?

Strongly advise not making a cozy using plain ol' duct tape!! I'm a long-time hiker planning a SOBO thru hike this year, so have stepped up my hiking and made a similar cozy using the HomeDepot tape. While fiddling with my alcohol stove (invisible flames, eh?) set the cozy on fire and believe me -- it makes a cheerful fire. Apparently the adhesive melts and then burns. Would suspect that some very unpleasant fumes could be involved, too. The foil tape that Ms Wanderlust uses is available from Amazon for about $6.50.

My question is planning while on the trail...(shelter stops and/or tenting for the night) also planing your food resupply and or town stops. I usually just bike tour, but recently I've been adding some hiking days to my bike trips. Just hiked the trail to Cape Lookout on the Oregon Coast and my next trip will be to Silver Falls near Salem, OR. Did protein intake concern you or was it more about the quantity of calories and not discerning the source or type of macros?

I realize that you have used cozies on trail many times with success, but I am going to ask this question anyway. Looking at the specifications for Reflectix, it has a temperature rating up to 180°F.
