Cool idea! When attaching your canister on back mount like that, how do you route your long hose if not under the canister?
@LakeHickoryScuba
@LakeHickoryScuba 3 жыл бұрын
Since I use my cannister light on my left hand, it does not get in the way of my long hose at all. So there is no difference in the standard loop method.

Can you please share the details of that canister light? It's nice and compact as opposed to mine, which is quite bulky

I’m looking to sidemount my Mares 75xr’s. Can you tell me your method for connecting and routing the left regulator, as well as what length hose are you using? How do you keep the hose from crimping?

Hello Average Diver, I can try to do my best. The Mares 75x, which was the solution to the Mares 25x only being designed for Doubles and Sidemount, allowed a diver to use the same first stage for single tank use as well. With the additional ports, you can route hoses in any direction. My current set up is as follows. (With a 25x first stage of course.) Left Post. 6 inch HP with single Mares XR SPG. Standard 29 inch LPQD BCD Hose, and a 22 inch LP Hose with a 120 Swivel. Right Post. 6 inch HP with single Mares XR SPG. Standard 29 inch LPQD BCD Hose, and a 7 foot Long Hose. All hoses routed downward on the cylinders. Left cylinder, short hose goes around from left to right, and secured with a custom bungee. Right cylinder long hose comes out of the bands and wraps around just like a standard long hose configuration would in back mount. Hope this helps.

@@LakeHickoryScuba yes this is very helpful. Your the only one who I have found that uses basically the same reg set as me in that configuration. I’ve measured the short hose at 21 in and have tried it out in the pool a couple times to test fit. Unfortunately I find the 21in short hose not near long enough and I am forced in a chin down unable to have freedom of movement situation. Am I wrong to have ordered a 30 in hose? I have a class coming up in a few weeks but I just wanted to show up a bit more prepared is why I’m asking all the questions. Thanks for the reply and your time.

@@averagediver1819 The 22 inch hose was slightly too short for me as well, but with the 120 swivel it gave me the exact length that I needed.

Nice solution! For everyone diving handheld primary or backup lights do you have a preference for handles (glove/bungee/rigid)?
@LakeHickoryScuba

Hello Caleb Mcehaney. I actually prefer the soft gloves for work diving (salvage). As far as just fun diving goes, it doesn't really matter to me.

Great advice! I bought a canister light last month and was struggling on hoy to properly mount it. Any suggestions on the routing? For a side mount configuration...

Hello Pablo Arrieta, I personally like routing it up along the spine weight pouch, then over my left shoulder. This helps secure the cord and prevents entanglements.

Why not two independent loops? In your solution, if the bungee rips, then you're going to lose the entire cannister.
@LakeHickoryScuba
@LakeHickoryScuba 4 жыл бұрын
You could always do that as well. Not sure the likelihood of the bungee ripping though.

Isn't that just a fix for poor design of the cannister light? What designer requires you to dismount their product to change battery, or twist up a critical wire?
@ThePlexman
@ThePlexman 4 жыл бұрын
depends on how you look at it, canister with removeable cable port vs fixed glanded cable, additional point of failure vs difficult to change cable should it become damaged
@jamesbuckle6077
@jamesbuckle6077 4 жыл бұрын
@@ThePlexman or make it 3 piece with a semi permanent seal at the cable end and an easily removable battery compartment end. Boils down to cost and quality. Most cannister lights aren't cheap but use a weird combination of shonky design as far as I can see, some use pushbuttons and rubber seals where a simple magnetic switch would be safer and more preferable.
