This is fabulous! What a brilliant idea to use freezer paper for making the pattern! I think this is a great opportunity to use narrow wonder under to attach the fabric along the edges of the hoodie.-I’m not a pinker either! As a bonus, I think that this might help to stabilize the knit of the jersey. There are so many possibilities. As a first quick project-I have far too many WIPS and really want to squeeze this in! I could see myself just lining hood and use matching or co-ordinating fabric for pockets (or make bias binding and just add it to the curved edge of the pockets). More quilting motifs could always be added at any time. I live in a colder region, so I might even use a flannel for some hoodies. Love the idea of using the selvage as part of the label. I keep meaning to do this on my quilts. I found them on your website, but it would be a good Idea to add your social media links in your notes, so others can follow you there. Thank you, and stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦

Also, did you say this works with the back covered? Two live in a cold environment, so I thought that would make it warmer. Just cut the freezer pattern to match the back in a similar way you did the front? Correct?
@CarolinaMoore3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do all the different panels of the hoodie. Not sure if it makes it much warmer, but you could add a later of batting or fusible fleece between the hoodie and the quilted panel, and that might make it warmer?

thats pretty cool. a little flashy, but nice iddea to reinforce andd update an old falling apart jacket instead of tossing it
@CarolinaMoore3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Target currently has quilted coats for sale, so maybe "flashy" is on-trend? And I'd recommend this on a newer sweater rather than an old one. It is a lot of work to put into something that is falling apart. Generally, sweaters fall apart at the hems and seams, and this technique does nothing to reinforce hems or seams...
@phdgkos479523 жыл бұрын
@@CarolinaMoore yeah, that is actually wwhere mine is freying. also the pockets. maybe i could just sew it up. i really like the inside of the hood though.

I had just decided to try this. I had not seen anyone sewing this and thought it might be my original idea, but I guess not. Did you know unpick means not pick? The prefix un- means not. So, you mean you will pick the seam.
@CarolinaMoore2 жыл бұрын
In the 80s, people actually stitched fabric to the inside of sweaters, then cut holes to make it visible ... so stitching kints and wovens together has been a thing for a while ... probably longer than I've been alive. ❤️ That's okay. An idea doesn't need to be original to be fun. The word "unpick" actually does mean to remove a seam (Google it if you like). The English language is full of contradictory "rules" like that. No surprise with a language that says "i before e" then has the rule "except after c" and then has a whole list of words that are exceptions to the exception. 😆

I was disappointed that you didn't show the hoodie on you. How does it hold up to washing? Have you considered using denim with spandex content to give some extra give as the decorative fabric?
@CarolinaMoore Жыл бұрын
I was having some negative-self-image issues at this time, so wasn't comfortable showing it on my body. It holds up great to washing - I wear it and it has been washed over a dozen times. I am a quilter, so I use quilting cottons. I also don't own a serger. I'd need to go buy the denim/spandex, and I'd probably want to use a serger to maintain the stretch in the seams... so, it probably isn't for me, but someone else might want to try it!
@heathermonks9544Ай бұрын
Quick question, did you pre-wash your hoodie?

I think I did... because I don't know the quality of fabric used for the Hoodia, so if it has significant shrink, I wanted to be safe. ❤️

That’s not a hoodie. It’s a sweat jacket, but I’m going to keep watching because I’m hoping you can apply the same techniques to an actual hoodie. 🤞🤞🤞
@CarolinaMoore27 күн бұрын
Curious, I went ahead and googled "hoodie." Here is the definition: a hooded sweatshirt, jacket, or other top. I then searched if a hoodie can have a zipper. It can. When folks want to differentiate, they say "zip up hoodie" or "pull over hoodie." So, I'm going to keep calling it a hoodie. And you can call it whatever you like. 😉
@karenhawkins63115 күн бұрын
I don't know anyone who says zip-up or pull-over hoodie. It's either a hoodie or it's a sweat jacket. Google images of each... When you search for hoodies, you'll get 99 out of 100 without a zipper and when you search for sweat jackets, you'll get 999 out of a thousand with a zipper. That's how folk really differentiate them.
@CarolinaMoore5 күн бұрын
@karenhawkins6311 maybe it is a regional thing? I'm in California and I checked with my friends... none of us have ever heard the term "sweat jacket." 🤷♀️ Google conforms to your tastes. When I Google "hoodie", the very first result for me has a zipper. Yours may be very different. The algorithm knows. 😆
