This is amazing build. Going to be my 2024 project😍. Has anyone tried to put gyros so the motor stay straight in line? Instead of ys trying to keep it in line?
@cmactech
@cmactech Жыл бұрын
Thanks man! The reason why it was challenging for me to keep it straight is because these are old wheel chair motors and one of the brushes on the one motor must’ve been dirtier slowing down rpm lol.

I left the original front wheels on and just run it back and forth mowing forward and reverse, it's not as fun as my original with swivel casters, but tracks better and constantly mows a full deck ,just had to jockey it a little bit when turning. Just recently I upgraded the front wheels to omni directional wheels, and it tracks straight, spins around with very little jockeying in the yard

Sabertooth 2x25. But i recommend the cytron 2x20 if you want to save some money. Both i have used on this application. Cytron 2x20 doesnt have rc into it but its only like $30 and you can just connect it to a arduino nano or similar microcontroller to add RC function.

Nice Job I am currently working on a similar type rc control I noticed that you had a game type controller Is this wifi controlled? I would like to set mine up to run from inside the house with a camera to control it outside What are your thoughts on that Thanks Craig
@cmactech
@cmactech 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig! Thanks for your comment! The controller is called the T8S from radio link. I bought it here Radiolink T8S 8 Channels 2.4GHz... www.amazon.com/dp/B07WR9Y1HG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share . Its radio controlled using PWM or PPM frequency. Connecting a camera is what i plan to do as well. For that to work properly, you will need to make sure you have FPV. But if you have a wifi chip connected to the motor driver, like an ESP8266, you can definitely get wifi to work and you can do mow from inside the house! Im trying to perfect it as range is my biggest issue but once i do i will upload a video on that!

@GoatZilla

@@cmactech 10s lithium ion, nominal 36v.
@GoatZilla
@GoatZilla Жыл бұрын
@@cmactech I guess I should amend that with a slightly more technical and direct answer. I believe the motors can run at 24v. Some hoverboards are 7s (25.2v nominal). So if you wanted to run them at 24v (i.e. 2 lead acid batteries), you could. The hardware can obviously handle it, and the open source firmware LVC can be configured. However the hoverboard comes with a lithium battery, so... just use the battery it came with.
@cmactech
@cmactech Жыл бұрын
Nice. I never owned a hoverboard but yeah the more energy the better i say so keep it at 36v lol. If you have a electric mower like me im sure that thing books! Im sure those wheel hub motors look nice and sleek too.
@GoatZilla
@GoatZilla Жыл бұрын
@@cmactech I built one on the exact same mower as you. There are actually multiple hoverboard hub motors/wheels. The standard 6" ones are likely too small to get good enough traction unless you use 4 of them. I am currently running 10" versions because that's the first one I grabbed off CL, and yeah it's way faster than necessary (I run 60% expo) and traction/torque isn't optimal. Works, but it's kind of like driving racing slicks on grass sometimes. I about to switch to wider 8.5" hoverboard motors specifically made for "off-road" which should get better torque and traction.

@@cmactech that's good. I was going to do like yours but I realized it cost a lot of money. At the end. You should look at hoverboard RC lawnmower. They take the motor, battery, couplers, circuit board, all you need is a RC receiver. I was watching a Russian guy have all wheel drive but I don't understand this diagram. When it comes to wiring the both circuits board to the RC receiver. But it is much faster and cheap. I bought myself a cheap hoverboard but realized the motors gear has 6 pin holes and the board takes 5 pin. I might have to rewire it..I can send you the video and maybe make a video about it.

Yeah I seen those too. That’s a good option, but for me I have a sloped yard so I needed bigger/fatter tires. It was just easier to use a motor that already had a bracket to fit good tires. But if you build one please let me know! I’d like to check it out!

@@cmactech they have a hoverboard that has off road version they look very pricey. But I have seen on the Internet you can peel off the old tire and add some 4.10 types. I think that's what I have to do too. I don't have a flat lawn. I'm not worried about the tires yet. I'm more focused on how to connect the two circuit boards together so it has more power. Hopefully I can get more information from that Russian guy video ( language barrier is the issue) Once I figure that out. I need to find a lawnmower without doing any welding so I can connect all 4 wheels using a mount shaft coupling. Its shame not many people are doing this project it seems like a man's dream to build something like this. Plus there aren't many videos of people in detail about how to do it. It's just bits and pieces out there. The only one I saw is one French guy (one motor) and that Russian guy ( two motors) . But the Russian guy's schematics are a bit hard to understand. I recently bought two very cheap hoverboard one seem heavy then the other one. But it's ashamed they don't have the main circuit board. Not sure why there isn't any from the hoverboard I purchased. just today I have to buy one from eBay. So we will see how this project goes this summer
