Wow, thank you! You can do it! Just follow step by step. You already know how to cut accurately so it should be no problem. You can even adjust your settings to watch at a slower speed. - Just turn down the volume!😄. Please check out some of my other videos for easy projects. Thanks for watching.

Purchased this pattern yesterday, made the hat today, best bucket hat fit ever!!! The pattern pcs are properly sized so that it is not a battle to fit the sides to the top nor the brim to the sides. The sides are deep enough for the hat to come slightly over the top of the ears, the brim has a very nice width without being too wide or too narrow. I'm pretty certain I'll be able to wear this hat without having to hold it onto my head when the breezes blow! Absolutely Perfect!!

This is the 2nd video of yours I've watched. As I said before you do an excellent job of explaining what to do. In addition, I appreciate your saying interfacing was needed (to give the hat some shape). Other videos haven't done this. I also like the parallel rows of stitching around the brim; they are not only decorative but I think they also add to the sturdiness and shape of the brim.

This method is just as easy as you can skip a few of the steps I've shown. You can sandwich the brim between the two and stitch in one go. I still prefer knowing all layers are held together at this seam. Thanks for watching.

cut the 2 sides and top out of scrap fabric.(just 3 pieces for fitting sample ) pin sides to your head so it’s comfy. Measure what needs to be shaved of each piece keeping ⅜” seams. You will need to shave off very little from the top piece to fit. Once the sample fits, then that’s your new pattern

i have never seen anyone sew with the needle to the left before, mine is always to the right, but i am gonna give your way a try because i think the measurements will be better, either that or i have just been wrong all these yrs (50) lol

Up until last year, I only ever used industrial machines. The default on this Brother machine is left when machine is turned on. You can sew with you needle in any position to get right seam allowance. Just move over to get the correct distance if you are using the side of foot as the guide. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

I love your videos...would it work to attach the brim to the main fabric first and then the lining, so that the turning hole would be on the inside?
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing Жыл бұрын
Sure you can but my method eliminates any openings to close with that topstitch. Thanks for watching😊

@@NotchesSewing aha, thank you for the reason. I made one like you did, but wasn't thrilled with look on the outside. Could have been the fabric's pattern, or I'm my own worst critic, but I am working on two right now and thought I might close the opening on the inside with fabric glue.

just do a slip-stitch by hand to close the opening. I show how to do a slip-stitch in my Bone pillow video. Cheers kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKi1YaCFn72UmJY

When joining the pattern pieces for the bucket hat, do I overlap the arrows where it says join, or do I butt the pieces together? Thank you. I very much enjoy your creativity.

Hi Angela, thank you for a clear concise video. I’m relatively new to sewing and have the same machine as you, when you sew the 3/8 th seam allowance, should the presser foot edge run along the fabric edge as a guide? Many thanks.
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The right edge of foot is actually ½”. There is a faint line on the right side of foot and that is ⅜”. If you want to use the edge of the foot as your guide, you can also move your needle position. Check page 29 of your instruction book for other measurements and needle positions.😊

I wish you had mentioned in the beginning of the tutorial, that the pattern pieces for the brim and the crown sides needed to be taped together to form the proper size. I cut everything out and went to put it together and I didn’t have enough pieces. So now I gotta start over.😔
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing Жыл бұрын
It is on the pattern pieces and instructions to join pieces together. You could add decorative tape or fabric on top, butt edges together and join that way to save it?
