I wouldn't use brisket for a roast beef dinner always rib or sirloin the best and the same meat tin for the Yorkshire pud, (giant one) you get all the meat flavours and juice in it then and cut it into portions

My husband loves cooking so much but is now bed ridden. So I have a movable tall side table that I bring a bunch of stuff in to him to be able to make dinners. I just take them to the oven and do things to help. It's always so delicious and it makes him so happy to still be able to cook sometimes. 😊 He's such a great guy and I love him so much! 💞💜💓💗💖💞

Thank you so much for doing these videos! My grandmother came to the states from england when she met my grandfather and was a fabulous cook! She never wrote down her recipes and didnt measure just did it by eye. Sadly she was diagnosed with alzheimer's and her cooking secrets were lost forever. I've always wanted to make yorkshire pudding and gravy, now im going to make it and share some with my mom. Hopefully its reminds her of when she was little and granny would be cooking away in the kitchen. ❤❤

Hey Barry, Sunday roast dinners are one of those lovely English traditions which thankfully were imported to the US and a part of my growing up; We didn't have a lot, so it was usually chicken, but on special occasions we had roast beef & Yorkshire pudding. We were more of a Worcestershire sauce family than horseradish, and mom would put the pudding batter and oil in the bottom of a deep pan with the roast on a rack, then slice the "sheet" of pudding into squares after baking everything together. I always preferred just to eat them like bread with a little butter, while she had hers with jam. I enjoy your style, keep up the good work!
@PlayerWellKnown5 жыл бұрын
Worcestershire sauce on a roast? Utter craziness! ;) glad to hear that the tradition of the roast travelled over the pond. Can't beat a good roast. Whatever you are doing today, enjoy it. Worcester sauce?

Yassssss! You can't beat roast beef and Yorkshire puddings! My mum rarely makes her own yorkshire puddings, but when she does, she puts a bit of bicarb and vinegar in her batter right before she cooks it and they are the lightest things in the world.
@cBearTV-4 жыл бұрын
That's a good tip, I'm going to borrow it I always love huge airy Yorkshires, although I rarely manage to do really big airy ones so maybe this will help 👍
@joannegray51385 жыл бұрын
I spent the first 23 years of my life believing that Yorkshire puddings were these horrid puffed up black crispy things that tasted horrible and burnt. It was only when Aunt Bessie's brought out frozen Yorkshires that I truly realised what a dreadful cook my mother was (and the less said about her black and crispy "roast" beef, the better) - but she always went off on one if I dared to.criticise. Sunday lunches were always a fraught affair when I was growing up. Your girls.are so lucky 😋
@Nails_By_Kimberlee5 жыл бұрын
Lol, my mother was a horrible cook as well. If she couldn't make it in the microwave, she didn't make it. Luckily, I've learned a lot from other sources as I've aged. Actually a decent cook now!
@malindastevens10165 жыл бұрын
So glad my mom was a pretty decent cook. Not the best out there but still pretty good. There was several things she made I wasn't a huge fan of but then there was other things that I absolutely loved that she made.
@joannegray51385 жыл бұрын
Admittedly, I'm not much of a cook myself; if it can't be microwaved, toasted or reconstituted with water, I don't go near it, but I try to keep my food tasty and halfway edible even so 😼
@rwaitwhat5 жыл бұрын
My mom's that way too. Not talented in the cooking line at all but absolutely refuses to believe it. Part of the problem is that she doesn't really care about food herself, she's one of those people who figures that a hamburger or filet mignon both mean you ate beef for dinner. (Another part of the problem is that she has no attention span at all)

I've been an honorary brit since i was born - my parents were enjoying homemade beef roast with Yorkshire pudding before I was born in the 80s! It was astounding to me when I was young that other families didn't know the joy of patiently watching the carving and giving puppy eyes for the best crust parts before going to the table. The aroma in the house was so inviting. We made popovers from the Yorkshire recipe just to have a taste on Sunday brunch if we weren't having a roast dinner (our family's tradition, too!). I haven't had a proper roast since my mom passed in 2016 and I've been too fearful that I would remember her recipe flavors and how mine wouldn't stack up. I have the tendency to make something, it tastes great but not exactly as I remember, and get bummed. However, with your enthusiasm and openness for me to try my hand at it (and maybe make a rub inspired by my mom's), I will definitely have to roast some beef soon!

The shiny side of the foil is a myth. One side is just shiny because the last press of the foil is done with 2 sheets next to each other. But neither side provides more insulation or reflection than the other.
@crazyScottishferretlady5 жыл бұрын
Came here to say exactly this!
@Raecast5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the use case but the shiny side does have different radiant heat reflecting properties than the matte which results in a cleaner reflection of energy. AKA it's not a myth.
@topopolis5 жыл бұрын
It's not a myth the shiny side does have a slightly higher reflective capacity than the matt side. How ever it's been proven the difference is negligible so go mad with either side.
