I wish I could like this 10 times! Great video, I appreciate you explaining which way you would join the pieces as I’m quite new to EPP. Another beautiful pattern by you!

Well done Jodi very clear and easy to understand, as others have said Ice Cream Soda would be brilliant if you ever get free time in your busy schdule, I found this very relaxing to watch look forward to seeing you add to this channel maybe !!

I love that you do two things I do (that I’ve been told are “wrong”)… you stitch away from yourself and you pull the papers out as you go. Great video. Excellent explanation. I have a large Ice Cream Soda in progress but now I’m thinking about fabrics for an Evensong! 😮😂😮

Oh, I'm so glad! I'm self taught and tried to stitch the 'right' way when I found out, but it wasn't as comfortable for me, so I embraced my way! I've since met lots of people who do it this way too. I always take papers out as I go, partly to put less pressure on my hands, and partly so it's not such a big job at the end. Very smart, I say! 😘 Happy stitching! xx

Great job!! When I first starting reading your newsletter, I was disappointed you didn’t have a KZbin channel!! You didn’t need any special equipment and I didn’t even notice your “flimsy” phone stand! Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming! Lol. P.s. I thought the length of your video was perfect!

Jodi, your lesson is full of helpful points from beginning to end. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I like the way the block pieces are added continuously in the late round. Keeps you going! The lighting, sound, and pace are perfect for me. As we say in Texas,” You go, Girl!”
@talesofcloth5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! That's such encouraging feedback! I like that about this block too! It feels like a 5-round block because of the 5 colours, but really you just add 3 rounds to the centre. Makes it feel quick and easy!

This was great - interesting and some great tips. I love your relaxed style and pace. Thank you. I don’t know how much extra work it would be at the editing stage but wondered whether you could perhaps experiment with muting the music whilst you’re talking - as a beginner who is keen to learn as much as I can from you I did find the music a bit distracting - but maybe it’s just me. I hope there are many more to come 😊 I’d find one on how colour choices affect what the block looks like and how to put different blocks together to help the quilt look cohesive overall really helpful. I bought your lovely book and some shapes packs from your shop - you have so many beautiful designs it’s tricky trying to decide what to make first!

That's such helpful feedback, thank you Melanie! I don't know how tricky it is either, but I will definitely look into it! Jodi. xx

I am so excited that you started a KZbin channel!!! I just wish you would stop creating so many amazing patterns. I can’t afford it and I have way too many WIP’s going. I am curious about how you hold your needle. Does it give you more control/less stress on fingers? Could you show a closeup on your next video please 😊
@talesofcloth5 ай бұрын
Haha! Thank you Sue! I can't help it! ;P I prefer holding the needle this way as it leans on my middle finger as I guide it through. I'm self taught, and just started this way, and when I learned there was a 'correct' way, I tried to change, but decided I preferred my own strange method!

This video was wonderful for a beginner EPP sewist! I've been reluctant to start my Ice Cream Soda quilt since I've never done EPP before, and this demonstrates the technique beautifully. I think I'm ready to start. How about a video for an Ice Cream Soda block?

Great video! I'm preparing myself (mentally only for the moment) to make a big EPP quilt because I got the templates for christmas. This was really helpful. Are the papers reusable if you use glue?
@lynnenicholson69685 ай бұрын
Yes the papers are reusable when glue basting (if you pause as Jodi removes the paper you can see there’s little to no damage due to removal and the only damage is perforations on the paper edge where Jodi stitched. I stitch slower as I’m medically blind and stitch by feel so rarely perforated the paper edge so would get more reuse from my papers (4 or 5) if I perforated them like Jodi I’d only use them twice.
@talesofcloth5 ай бұрын
I agree with Lynne! I keep my papers to use once more. I find they are still in good condition after a couple of uses, but I don't like the glue build up. When I reuse the paper, I glue on the other side to last time. You papers will look like new if you press them without steam (I don't usually bother, unless they're crinkled), but press the side without glue so you don't get it in your iron. :D
@lynnenicholson69685 ай бұрын
@@talesofcloth or use some grease proof/ waxed freezer paper on the glue side if ironing is needed (also protects ironing board and iron from heat and bond, and adhesive quilt wadding/ batting)

Hi evensong is my next imminent project .. have you ever sewed the first4 fabrics as hexagons and then joined them to make the shape before you add the last colour ? Just wondered if it would assemble quicker .. weird though that sounds
