I wonder if one should put the ties on the back part of the hat rim and then glue the front rim to the back when secure

The hat was a booger putting it on. I ended up using pipe cleaners. Could not manage the zip ties. But it came out beautiful Thanks for the technique , never done it that way but it does not show any fray and it is uniform. I am not good at posting pics put will try. Again thank you. I also think this technique would be great on the snowman. A new wreather. lol

What if tie wrap doesn't fit in holes ?

You can't really work around that, you need to find one that fits or use something else. Pipe cleaners are not as efficient time wise but, they will work as well :)
