Hello everyone!
I love the cinematic language of the duo: Director Wong Kar Wai and Cinematographer Christopher Doyle. This project is my first attempt to apply Director Wong’s filmmaking techniques into my own interpretation of visual narration. I hope you all have enjoyed it!
Any constructive advice is welcomed.
Gears used:
Camera Sony A7 iii
Sony - FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM Wide-Angle Zoom

Thank you!

This is so awesome and really really informative! I’ve seen Chungking Express but had no idea it was by the same director!

Fallen Angels is the indirect sequel to Chungking Express and in my opinion, Fallen Angels is more stylish and just all-around more amazing. For me, it is Fallen Angels > Chungking Express.

I'm not a film major, but your film is so cinematic. It perfectly captured the "crisp haziness" of Wong Kar Wai's cinematics, as well as the desolate sentimentality of Chungking. Love it.

Yes, you really captured the image language (just realized that bildspråk does not really have an equivalent in english) of Wong Kar Wai and his storytelling to perfection.

The opening passage with the fellow walking across the overpass reminded me of the character Vicky in Hou Hsiao Hsien's Millenium Mambo but without the devil may care attitude her character projected.

00:14 📽 The creator was inspired by Wong Kar Wai's cinematic language and decided to make a short film using similar techniques. 04:07 🎥 Wong Kar Wai's cinematic language is highly aesthetic, conceptual, and stylistic, which can be learned and applied in filmmaking. 05:26 📸 To achieve a sense of slow motion and jitteriness in a film, you can experiment with shutter speed, aperture, and frame rate. 06:36 🎵 Music in Wong Kar Wai's films conveys character emotions, captures the movie's vibe, and reinforces its theme. 07:33 🎙 Using voiceovers in a film can enhance the emotional impact and convey the filmmaker's feelings effectively. 08:00 ✍ The creator plans to launch a second KZbin channel dedicated to reviewing films and invites discussion about Wong Kar Wai's cinema.

My favourite Wong kar-wai film was As Tears Go By , starring by Andy Lau $ Maggie Cheung. The story line was playing around my mind because the way the movie was films is blur and kinda emotional .. I felt that :))

Hey, this looks amazing.. I have too tried something similar to this but my footage is really not that clean.. what lens did you use.. I shoot on A7r3 but I get lot of grains at 800 iso, i use 24-70 f2.8 lens
@priprius
@priprius Жыл бұрын
Maybe it was too dark, more open aperture like f1.8 are better because the light comes in. Don't know for the iso but it doesn't sound excessive. Its noise or just grain ?

I also love the cinematographic language of the duo: director Wong Kar Wai and cinematographer Christopher Doyle. But even the films without Doyle, Wong Kar Wai's films have a language that is impossible not to identify. They're wonderful. Congratulations on the short film. The movement language you captured from Wong was very interesting. As you did? This technique, which became synonymous with Wong, is achieved by shooting as 12 frames per second, and then printing every frame twice. when the footage plays back at the standard 24 frames per second it therefore includes 2 printed frames of each single frame instead of 1.
