This is exactly what I was looking for with an alcohol stove pot stand. Some people have overly complicated designs and this is just perfect. Thanks for sharing this!

I like that it can fold flat. Being small and flat it should fit anywhere your alcohol burner can go.

Another idea that will work for anyone doing it recently is. Go to home depot. Where the rope,wire,chain is. An pick up a 2-3 pack of them aluminium cable eye crimps. That’s made for different thickness cables. That you pass the cable through than tuck the cable tale back into an crimp to make an eye on it. Stick each pot leg in that little aluminium crimp an maybe give it a small smash down so each one stays on the legs.

Just watched your video on how to make a pot stand for an alcohol stove. Thanks. Very informative and easy. Got a very small inprovement for you. They sell tiny little binder clips. You could use one or two of those to hold the loose end together. Thanks again for a great video.

I've made those before. One thing to note is outside is often windy. The stove needs to be sheltered by a wind break. otherwise excessive fuel will be consumed. Alternatively I settled on a piece of rolled up thin aluminum flashing tall enough so that a pot will sit in it over a burner with an inch separation plus at least a couple of inches. A couple of pieces of a wire coat hanger through holes will hold a pot or pan. A gap of about an inch around the pan allows the heat to hug the pot and increase the area being heated. The diameter of the shield should be less than the pot resulting in a gap, allowing air flow. In my testing I found it heated 50% faster and used 30% less fuel. The weight is slightly more but the savings in the weight of fuel makes up for it. It also works for twig fires.

Wow.... I loooved your video . Your stove seems to be almost half the height of a regular soda can ... normally other stoves are more shorter like 1/3 of the can. Does it has another effect on the stove's performance ...I mean , being taller. I will try making my stove with ARIZONA cans (ARIZONA is a brand with longer and wider cans, though they may not be available in some countries) my idea is that it may be more stable and last longer

This is great, would have been super helpful during our time of the big ol' tornado outbreak in SW Ohio a few years ago. However for camping, how do you suggest transporting such a stove? Use up the fuel prior to going to the camp site so it doesn't leak? Anyway I'm going to make one to three of these! Would be helpful in several situations for sure. I wonder too if there's a way to put a handle of sorts on the lid to put out the fire. Hmm!

Carry a small fuel bottle. Put in only enough alcohol to boil the quantity of water you need at the moment, and then you can do one of two things: let the stove burn completely out, leaving the stove dry *or* extinguish the stove by covering it, let it cool, and then pour any excess cool fuel back into your fuel bottle.

sorry if i missed something, but how do you store your stove? do you seal it somehow so it doesn't evaporate the fuel or is fuel loss a definite and you have to leave it to air out before storing?
@Nerotique

I measure fuel before I put it in the stove. You'll want to do some experimentation to see how much fuel it takes to boil water.

Instead of using wire to hold the stand together, consider using small zip ties. They will hold and are much easier to use.

You can get Heat at more places than the alcohol. Also, the bottle it comes in is bomb proof, crush proof and the fact that it has a long neck makes it easy to pour accurately and if it were to be crushed it allows movement in the bottle to keep it from leaking. Transferring the denatured to this bottle (or any bottle is a pain). In my area the cost difference is nil. For me, alcohol and the Heat burn the same. No brainer
@oldtimerlee8820

Alan, I keep both on hand. Both are available at my local Walmart. Heet is easy to pack in Grab/Go or Get Home bags. Larger containers of denatured are great for both my workshop and in a "base camp" setting. Whether the power is out at my home or stowed in our travel trailer. Personally I like to have multiple choices, when possible. Thus, I even have 70% Iso in my stash, as well.

So much work- I simply took a larger can then the stove and cut both ends off and then cut large openings in the bottom and top for air. The can was about 1 or 2 inches higher than the stove. you can put your pan on top of this for cooking. Whole thing fits in a small bag along with a bottle of heat (yellow color) for transport.
