Today we are bringing you the final installment in our recent trilogy of Goats' Milk Soaps (there will be more, just not yet!) Today we are showing you how we attempt to colour our Goats Milk soap a pink/red colour using Himalayan Rhubarb extract infused in Olive Oil.
The Himalayan Rhubarb extract was kindly gifted to us by Suzanne Dekel and can be purchased here:
www.suzannedek...
Our free Goats milk soap making recipe is included and is given at the bottom of this description.
We cover how to use Rhubarb infused olive oil in place of the regular olive oil portion of our soap to create a pink colour and we show you how to incorporate Goat milk into your lye water solution and the steps to take to ensure that it doesn't scorch or burn.
We then move on to filling our soap mould and texturing the top of our soap loaf.
Finally, we cut the soap and then fast forward to 4 weeks later to show you what the final colour result is after curing.
If you do wish to recreate our Goats Milk salt bar at home, here is the recipe that we created and feature in this video (the below quantities will fill a 2.5lb loaf mould):
For the Infused Olive Oil:
340g Olive Oil
3.4g Himalayan Rhubarb Extract
To create your infused oil, mix the rhubarb with the olive oil and either leave to infuse for a minimum of 4 weeks or use the quick heat method to infuse quicker.
For the Soap:
Sodium Hydroxide 109g
Water 109g
Goats Milk 109g
Himalayan Rhubarb Infused Olive Oil 340g
Coconut oil 184g
