How to make a simple wire torsade (bullion) trimming for tassels - also called a wire bullion drop

This video illustrates how to make a simple wire torsade using copper wire that has first been coiled to make perl wire. This perl is then twisted to make a simple bullion drop.
It is a good idea to watch my perl wire video if you have never made your own.

is it possible to achieve the same effect without the use of wire and a tool for curling the string? I'm asking because I'm going to make Napoleonic epaulettes. Regards

Not really if you are looking for metallic bullion. Metallic bullion has to have the two parts, and is made individually. In fact for uniforms, the wire element will be flat and so much finer. If however your epaulettes are wool, then they will be made differently. A long length of a few lengths of the wool is twisted (so twisting tool of some description is required) and reeled. Then, a bullion fringe is woven, incorporating this length

Hi Lyndell! There really aren't many places where you can get them these days - unless you happen to know a friendly wood turner!
