Nice, how many mugs can you make with 10lb clay
@_hopeandco_ Жыл бұрын
Sorry we're reviving our channel and just saw your comment! You've probably long since worked this out! But we'd love to answer anyway: We work in kilograms and grams here in Australia (the bags in our videos are 10kg). But 10lb / 4.5kgs could make 4-5 mugs like the ones in this video. S + G x

Hiii! I have a question, how long do you wait for the slab to dry a little before molding the mug? I see in your video it’s way easier to handle this way.
@_hopeandco_3 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniela! Thanks for your question. It actually depends on a few different things - temperature of the room, whether the air is dry/humid, as that will determine how long it will take for the clay to firm up a bit. We left our slab out for about 45mins-1hr in a room that was around 20 degrees Celsius, away from direct sunlight. You need to go by the feel of it; it needs to still be soft enough to be easily malleable, but stiff enough so it doesn’t lose its form when you try to shape it. The last thing you want are dry edges and cracks! Just test it out, and if you leave it for an hour and it’s too dry you’ll know. Vice versa, if it’s still too soft leave it out for a bit longer. Hope this helps!

Hello! Thanks for this video! What kind of the table or surface use for working ceramic? thank you!!!
@_hopeandco_2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcela! Thanks for your comment + for watching. ✨ We use cement sheet or canvas on top of a sold surface (e.g a bench or very sturdy table). You can get cement sheet from your local hardware or building supplies store. - Georgie + Sarah

Hello I'm just learning and you said your Raku clay is the best for learning I thought Raku clay was for a Raku kiln. Can I fire any clay in a electric kiln just trying to learn everything I can. Thanks for your help.
@_hopeandco_3 жыл бұрын
Hi Heidi! Absolutely you can fire Raku clay in an electric kiln. It is one of the most forgiving clays to fire at different temperatures, which is why it’s designed to withstand the shock of rapid Raku firing. However, whatever Raku or other clay you buy, make sure you stick to the firing range indicated on the bag. If someone else is firing for you, make sure you give them the exact clay you’re using and ensure your glazes are suitable as a match for that clay. Let us know how you go, we’re more than happy to help or make some videos around this 😊 - Sarah

What is the drying process mam?
@_hopeandco_3 жыл бұрын
We put our newly made pieces into what we call our ‘bisque/greenware room’ - a relatively cool, temperate room facing south, with thick walls and relatively no humidity. This provides the right environment for things to dry evenly, which usually takes up to seven days. Some potters glaze their greenware straight away, that’s not us! We always do a bisque firing first, once the ‘drying process’ is complete. Hope this answers your question! - Georgie

Hello ma’am , can I know the type of clay u use ?

Hi Asmaa, thanks for your question. We’re using a white Raku clay in this tutorial, but you can use your preferred clay to make the same mug! - G
