I looked through the comments and see that I never left a comment thanking you for this video. I did give a thumbs up! I have made a bag using your slip and zip instructions that were a success. I can't tell you how pleased I was with my bag because of that one feature that made the bag wonderful for me to use. Now I'm making a craft bag for a friend using that pocket. It really makes it easier to organize and find things we put into pockets when there are easy to access and those that can be zipped so contents are not lost. Thank you!

I love your bags and tutorials. I have made several of your designs. Thank you so much for sharing. One feature I really like in my bags is your slip and zip pocket. How do I determine how much fabric to use when trying to design my own bag or add it to a different bag? Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Vicki Lee what is the yardage for this bag? I want to try this pocket and zipper hack soon. This is a beautiful bag and you did a wonderful job with the tutorial. I might have to make adjustments with the size while using up my stash of fat quarters. I'm going to make my box template also. Thank you so much.

Hi, Lynne. If I wanted to add a flap (like in the beginning picture) is it best to sew it on the outside when finished or sew it in the seam like the handle tabs are sewn in? Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you! I’ve made this bag 6 times. 2 for Mom, 3 for Sis, 1 for my daughter. Mom and Sis requested more after the first one.! You’re the Greatest!
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne5 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy. great question, and tricky answer. It's great if you can sew into a seam . Keeps things clean. Now how that is done is to pin on the back panel, where you want it , imagining how it's going to look when all said and done. But put it on right side of flap facing right side of back panel. just pin it at first and do a test flip over before you sew so you see what's happening... have fun. Lynne

Im pretty sure I understand so I’m going to give it a try. Thank you so much for answering so quickly. I decided to quilt the main front panel while waiting for your answer. Your directions were AGAIN so easy to understand! You’re an awesome instructor, girl! I’m 70 and have been sewing a long time but always learn from you! Thank you!!

Vicki Lee Bags/ by Lynne Hi Lynne, I haven’t tried the flap yet but hopefully will soon. My Mom who is 91 just got out of the hospital and doing fairly well and slowly getting better. Needless to say I haven’t been sewing much. I miss my sewing and since you’ve given me a new challenge to learn something new I’m very anxious. Your instructions are great so I’ll let you know how the bag turns out. Have a beautiful day!

Hi Lynne, I've just discovered your channel and am enjoying it very much. You explain everything beautifully and the quality of your work is very good, I have to say. I do have a question about the fabric. Can you use eg. plain cotton or does the material have to be a certain thickness for the bag to "sit" properly. I do love this design pattern for a cross over bag but I would like to have a zipper on top instead of a flap or magnet. Hint Hint, maybe a video in the future?? Thanks again for the lovely tutorials 💞

Use any fabric you want. Just use heavy interfacing for focal fabric. I have a video on how to add zipper panel to any bag. Thanks bunches and have fun!

H Lynne. ive made another of these bags and once finished the lining seems way too big for the bag shell, any idea i can do to rectify - i havent sewn the bottom of the lining yet, so would be able to pull through again.this also happened with the first one i did, but put it down to being my first attempt. thankyou
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne7 жыл бұрын
okay so.... sew up the shell first... lay it ontop of your unsewn lining, and mark your seams... it happens a lot but you will learn to adjust it befor you sew the lining.... good luck hugs

Hi Lynne, I need your help making the pocket. I need help calculating the pocket length. my fabric piece for the front is 14 1/2" tall. I will have 4 inch gussets. I have made 2" square cuts+ allowance for the 1/2" seams. That leaves me 12" in length, then subtract 1/2" for the seam at the top = 11 1/2". Do I need to cut my pocket 40" long?
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne7 жыл бұрын
Can you just fold it? To see how it's going to fit?
@denisehosner34057 жыл бұрын
Vicki Lee Bags/ by Lynne yes, I could do that. I guess I should cut 40 inches and then start folding!
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne7 жыл бұрын
Hello Denise... Why are we talking 40 inches? The cut out for the pocket is 25"? so I'm now confused... did you figure this out?
@denisehosner34057 жыл бұрын
Vicki Lee Bags/ by Lynne Hi Lynne, I came up with 40 inches based on the length of the bag. Your bag is 9 1/2" and mine is 14 1/2". I just estimated in my mind..40" folded in half is 20", then folded up again will give me a pocket that is APPROX 9-10 inches deep. I was hoping you could tell me if this sounds right to you. I haven't cut the pocket material yet.
@VickiLeeBagsbyLynne7 жыл бұрын
Okay, that make sense... That's a deep pocket. But once you fold it, see if it fits your idea... Good luck... have fun !
