Absolutely need more of this material. Few of us have 5+ acre plots. We have a couple .5 acre plots and a 1.25 acre. Or less.

You are welcome sir! I took my 14 yo out on our new property last night. A nice doe came in at last light. He aimed for the exit shoulder as instructed and made a beautiful double lung shot. She was down in 50yds. So proud of him. Thanks for the shot placement tips on your other video!

Love the content. Great video on food plot development. The only thing I would say is getting 2-3 interns together and cleaning up the plot. Too many rocks and twigs in the plot. No more than a hour or 2 of work and that plot would be booming with an even higher yield CLOVER won't grow on rocks lol

Great video! Really enjoyed the tips and demonstration. Helps motivate me to get out and do some work on my little place! Even if it is still in the high 90' here in South Carolina!

I planted 2 acres of Eagle brand soybeans and put up a solar powered electric fence around the central acre. The enclosed plants are 3 feet tall and hanging heavy with bean pods. The plants outside the fence are about 4-6 inches tall and about to succumb to the browsing pressure. I'm on the central VA/NC line. When do you all normally drop the fence?
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 4 жыл бұрын
Robert - Nice work! I typically remove the fence about a week before I wish to hunt the plot. Let me know how you do!

Do you guys put dye in your herbicide? I always have trouble knowing where I have already sprayed and putting a dye in is so simple and genius.
@GrowingDeerTV

We do when using a backpack sprayer, etc. It's a great tool! We use herbicide dye which is readily available.

Tanner - Sounds like food is a limited resource in your area. I'd add as much food as practical!

I imagine it is glyphosate with dye so you know what has been sprayed.
@GrowingDeerTV

James is correct - it's glyphosate herbicide with a dye.

The question I have is do you use any fertilizer when planting your seed?
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 3 жыл бұрын
D - As the soils at my place improved I haven't needed to add any fertilizer in 7 years. That's one of the many benefits of the Release Process.

Andrew - I used to fight wildlife with the Bureau of Land Management in Nevada. The others have had local classes - grant

What do you guys do about all the rocks? I live in Southwest Missouri as well and I can tell you there isn’t a shortage of rocks in the soil here.
@jamesscott4066
@jamesscott4066 4 жыл бұрын
It seems the best way they have done it is to build more soil on top of the existing rocky soil. Using the Buffalo system they mention so often continually adds the organic matter to the point that the rocks aren't a concern. Trying to remove the rocks would be an impossible battle. I'm also in the Ozarks of Missouri.
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 4 жыл бұрын
Cody - James is correct! We pick the rocks that are so big they might harm our equipment and otherwise we work to build soil on top of the rocks!

What is the timeline on this as far as spray , burn, seed
@GrowingDeerTV
@GrowingDeerTV 3 жыл бұрын
Justin - This depends if you are establishing a spring or fall crop. The spray needs to be applied far enough ahead of the desired time to plant so the vegetation will be terminated and there's time to burn to create a seedbed.

I think you should do a video about all the things whitetail habit solutions has wrong and is contradicting you. It’s funny watching it all

Hayden WHS harvested 3 archery Booners on 3 separate plots of land two of which are less than 80 acres. WHS doesnt use a tractor or no till drill for his videos. Grant does have the ability to use that equipment. ie.(Tractor $60k+, No Till Drill $15k+, Goliath Crimper $6k+) plus WHS has much smaller plots. The proving grounds is over 2000 acres. So it is bad to even try to compare the two shows. There are differences in their food plot methods but the overall concept they both have in common is habitat improvement and whitetail attraction. WHS just shows a method That is much cheaper and realistic for low budget land owners. That should be the concept you should take out of these videos.
