@TonyNeedsHobbies3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, thanks so much for watching it. I hope you enjoyed it and that the plan was useful for you. If you have any comment on how I can improve the plans, I would really appreciate the feedback 👍 Cheers and happy mold building!
@bennash88872 жыл бұрын
@@TonyNeedsHobbies Hi Tony, the plans were easy to follow though I think that there was one thing that I needed to work out myself that wasn't on your plan. I made two molds and a further one cutter, which, on its base, I made 45° cuts so that I could make it into a cutter and 'scraper', to remove the outer 1mm and shallow grooves to make a beveler, to tidy up the soap edges. As I make a textured top for some of my soaps and still have the need to protect them from being squashed, I intend to make 1 or 2mm holes on the length of each side of the molds, and then through into the lids - this will mean that I can put pins or nails through the mold and into the lid to hold it in place whilst the soap hardens.
@TonyNeedsHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Wow, it's really appreciated that you provided me with feedback after actually trying to follow my plans. I mostly make them afterwards so I don't know whether they work as intended or not. The idea to make a scraper is a really good one. I might add it to the drawings if I find the time and if it's OK with you. Thanks again and happy soaping!

I think the mold which we make the soap and the cutter mold size should be equal.can you say something Dear?
@TonyNeedsHobbies8 ай бұрын
Thanks for waching the video and your comment. I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but indeed, if the other molds you use and the cutter mold combo are the same size, you can use the cutter for all the other molds as well. Just take the solidified soap out of the regular molds and transfer it to the cutter mold combo to use it to cut the block into bars. Hope this helps you. Tony

Maybe you can get some help from a friend with some powertools? This project isn't too hard but indeed requires a bit of woodworking experience. Alternative you can buy mold/cutter combos these days - but I like to make my own tools 😀 Thank you for watching my video - hope you liked it! Cheers, Tony

very nice video! thanks for sharing. Very good insight to use the mold as the cutter. Maybe it's difficult to remove the cut part of the loaf with such a high end stopper guide. As a lower block may suffice and let the cut part be more accessible, just reverse the guide! ;-)
@TonyNeedsHobbies Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Sometimes the soap bars indeed stick a bit while cutting. Reversing that stopper would indeed be a good improvement suggestion. You have a keen eye! Hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Tony!

What a wonderful design with a double function. I'm really keen to have a go at making it. Thank you for sharing. Do you think it might be possible to substitute the steel blade for wire? (Guitar wire for eg).

Hi J., Makes me happy you like it. My guess would be that strong thin guitar strings will work as well, if you find a good way to put tension to it. Have fun with it! Cheers, Tony
