Great video, always good to see how things might be replicated from scratch. But something that would help folks like myself who sometimes struggle to see how the pieces add up (especially in the early stages), you should periodically play everything you have so far. Can group them how ever they make sense, for example after laying down instruments A, B, and C, play ABC; after D, E, and F, play DEF, and then play ABCDEF, and so on. I’m sure I’m not the only one who learns well this way.

My only comment would be that I expected you to thin out the drums and push them further back in the mix, especially considering that the purpose of this is to act as an old school sample for building a beat. Humanizing the music by not quantizing and using dynamics should give you more authenticity. You have to remember that a lot of the guys making those Blaxploitation soundtracks were composing and arranging on them.

Have you tried putting a cabinet emulation on the Rhodes? This can make a huge difference in authenticity. I also found that for reverb usually convolution based chamber / medium room, plate and spring reverb works best for oldschool sound!
