I am here to do some watch hours and this is actually great. A chance to revisit and pick up something I might have missed. In your "lost everything" video you mentioned things we'd want to see, so here are some things I'm thinking of that I have experienced now that I've been doing sourdough for about 6 months. It's VERY humid where I live and I have mold issues, even in the refrigerator...the only thing I can think of is condensation in the jars creating mold. I've had to start over. So, perhaps a little something touching on that. The other suggestion is dehydrating, storing, and rehydrating your starter. I did this, and when I had to start over, my rehydrated starter never lost the alcohol smell. In fact, it was bad! I haven't figured out if it was my dehydrated starter or feeding habits, or again, my high humidity. So, maybe once you start new content, you can touch on these things. Welcome Back!

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the simplicity of your videos. I have been so confused by the different thoughts on sourdough starter that I just gave up. I happened upon yours and was inspired to try again. I am happy to report that my starter is alive and well after only two days. I did have some leftover starter in my fridge from several months ago when I took a class in sourdough bread baking. I used that and added bread flour to it. There were bubbles in it today. I thought for sure after so long in the refrigerator and having nothing done to it that it would not be any good. I was wrong. I will keep you updated if you would like as my starter progresses. Thank you again for taking something so mind boggling and making it simple for those of us who are not skilled in the art of bread making.

I love my sourdough starter. You helped me so much, I’ve maintained it since Nov 14/23 when I stumbled across ur starter video. I figured what the heck I’ll try it again. I tried so many times through the years but always had my starter die and never did achieve a loaf of bread. Now I make one loaf a week as I live alone so I don’t need any more than that. It taste so good, and my starter is very happy bubbly and sweet smelling. I fed it today and just took another loaf from the oven. 😊

It worked ! I almost gave up until I found your channel! I am using unbleached flour and filtered water and my starter is doing great😊 I tried twice before and ended up dumping it out. I was too intimidated by people saying I had to have a food scale and whole wheat flour , etc. Keep up the good work!!!

Hi Mary, I’m a new viewer and not a bread maker so this may be a silly question. Why dump half starter? Why can’t you divide into another jar and begin another starter so that you can make more than one loaf.

I've tried everything to get a starter started 😂. I am using King Auther Whole Wheat flour. I feed and water it? It's like feeding an animal. Ha ha ive had this silly stuff over a week. I am trying to keep a sense of humor about it but ready to throw it out and give up. I am definitely not a baker... lucky to make a good drop biscuit. 😮😅

I have a request Mary. Could you convert a Morning Glory Muffin Recipe using any kind of flour but A/P? There are tons of recipes out there but I didn't see any with hard/soft wheat/spelt or even kamut. I would be interested in which flour you would choose to make them❤
