Thank you so much for this tutorial. I bought a cricut to make stencils to use on polymer clay. Your video really helped me figure out Design space and using uploaded images.

So glad that this helped. There are lots of other videos too like learning how to create your own SVG using inkscape. Inkscape is a free program. It's helpful to create your own images too.

Hello Donna, I just bought the Cricut Maker for stencil work and could not get it to work. Error message that it was looking for alignment marks. I searched everywhere and no one had the solution until I found your video. It worked perfectly and you where an excellent instructor. For the life of me I don't know why your video got only 270 views. It should thousands. Thank you very much.

This was so helpful! I wanted to make stencils for baking and most of the ones I’ve seen are letters. This was perfect because I wanted to know how to fill the stencil area with many copies of one image! I wish I had seen your final result tho.

@@DonnaMillerdoes the color of my shape influence on anything when cutting the material? I find higher contrast colors are better to work with so I can see fine details when I “slice”.
@DonnaMiller Жыл бұрын
@Jess Bishop no, the color shouldn't effect anything. You can have a red shape in design space and then put a blue material on the mat to cut it out. The colors only help guide what the finished project will look like and help keep them straight when cutting.

Hello, great video! I do have a question, I don’t know if you mentioned it or not but I have an Explore 2 so do I need a different blade? Should I use the deep cut blade? When I attempt my cuts it cuts it all the way through and it’s no longer a stencil lol. And I’m using the same settings.
@DonnaMiller3 жыл бұрын
I just use the regular blade. No need for the deep cut blade. On my stencils, I want it to cut all the way through so that I'm using the negative part as the stencil part.

When I click on the weld button after centering, my shamrocks disappear! ..and now I know why! On the final click, you are clicking the SLICE button but you are SAYING the WELD button! @3:56
@DonnaMiller3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a glitch to me. You can save and then restart design space and see if that fixes it. Also, try to avoid holding down the shift button to select multiple items. This can cause glitches too. If all else fails, call cricut and they can help.
@robira13133 жыл бұрын
@@DonnaMiller I'm trying to say, you made a mistake. You were saying click WELD but you really meant click SLICE. You clicked SLICE but said WELD.

Sor everything worked up until I got to weld then align. When I welded they all turned dark and then there was no option to align. tried with two different images and same for both. What did I do wrong?
@DonnaMiller3 жыл бұрын
I think I made a mistake at one point in the video. I said to weld and I meant to say slice. Try the slice button instead and it should work.

Is there a way to have your design cut 4 stencils in one go? Not sure how to get the design to evenly disperse across the 12 x 12 sheet to make 4 copies of the same stencil
@DonnaMiller4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can either duplicate your design, or once you go to make it, click 4 under the number you want to make.
@yuehua64804 жыл бұрын
I think you meant to say the word “slice” and not “weld” right at the 4:00 minute.

Thank you! You are absolutely right. I meant to say slice and not weld.

what do you for stencil?

I used a quilting template that I got from the Hobby Lobby store. They sell it on Amazon too, but watch out because some of it is overpriced on Amazon. About $2.50 for one is the going rate.

Did you switch the blades?
@DonnaMiller3 жыл бұрын
I used the fine point blade. I did use a different one from paper and vinyl as to try and not dull the blade too quickly, but it isn't a necessity.

Hi. I would really appreciate your help. When I make a stencil, i put many images on the sheet and it cuts a square around each image (I did not put a square around any image) which cuts out all of the images separately. I upload images that I find from the internet. I want all of the images on 1 sheet together. I called Cricut and they were no help. Thank you.
@DonnaMiller3 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the images that you have uploaded have a background connected to them. You either need to erase the background using an app and reupload the image or look for png images. I'm attaching a video on how to upload images to design space using the advanced features. This helps me remove backgrounds when i uploaf the images. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZndln6wf75jjs0
