Very simple, cheap design and method. Accomplishes the task without over complicating it, I like it! Thanks for sharing!

This worked SO well man, thank you. I didn't want to shell out $30 for a real one..I bought a pack of razor blades and some nuts and bolts and I was set. The nut holds mine in place just fine without the washer. Amazing idea!

thank you so much for sharing this. A strap cutter is so expensive to buy and I refuse to pay that much for a simple tool, so I've just been cutting my handbag straps with a metal ruler and knife. I will enjoy making this myself. And thanks to your Dad for teaching you well

Maybe cut a slot so the bolt can be adjusted for various widths. Great tip!

yeah, exactly what I thought... just add a nut against the wood (optional as the razor will add tension to the screw, but might put too much force on the razorblade depending on how hard you fasten the screw...) and a nut and washer on the other side so you can 'clamp the screw/bolt at the desired width.. Also you could mark up some lines across the slot parallel with the razor for faster measuring of desired lace width.
