Took my boys to Iceland 3 years ago to expand their world...to teach them to see beauty that is unfamiliar in their daily lives. They both loved that experience so much... Selfishly, I watch your great videos to improve my photography, but I also want now to have my kids experience the Faroe's. Absolutely stunning...We let our world get so complicated, yet there is so much beauty in the simplicity of colored roofs...and emerald moss-colored volcanic earth...bathed by golden sun peaking below the day's cloudy coat...until just the right moment when all hell breaks loose with splendor. Those are the moments when we need our cameras...and our kids to be there!

I was out photo scouting this morning in the Comox Valley BC and found a couple of compositions that scream for a panorama. I have been experimenting with this technique for about a year. It can really set the scene and mood for the viewer of the image. The trick now is to find a frame big enough to do it justice! Thanks again for you videos and images on Instagram.

Hi Nigel, I understand so many subscribers, you do a very nice and natural job, it fells like talking directly to me! I started stitching with my 6 MP Nikon D70 14 years ago, as I wanted (and did) large prints, 150cm wide. I used a Nodal corrected Panorama head. After a while I found, that I can shoot hand held with no problems, but I need good overlap of the images. Stitching is not new with LR, there are many other programs and options (you could have mentioned). The main reason, why I write this comment: you did not mention a very important aspect (it may be just common cense for most of us). For stitching panoramas you have to set all settings of your camera on manual, also the ISO and focus!! Moving elements (waves, water,...) can be a problem for stitching. The leveling of the camera is far less important, as long as you just shoot enough pictures around you desired scene and crop later, as you did on your pano too. And you don't have to brake a lens to shoot panorama. I have the situation very often, that I want wider than my wides lens, that I have in my pocket, and I just shoot hand held and try to keep the camera in the right level or the horizon at the same level in the finder. Great video Nigel. Let me add 3 tips for panoramas. Manual focus (after focusing where you want even if it’s infinity) to make sure the focus does not shift during the whole pano, manual white balance so you don’t have to correct that in post and finally lock exposure on the brightest area of the panorama, to make sure exposure does not change. Using the bracketing was a great tip and one that most doesn’t do when doing panoramas. It gives a lot more room to get more details on shadows and highlights. Fantastic video. Cheers.

Thank you for this beautiful and informative video. I have done some panoramas in Lightroom, but have not thought about bracketing and making them HDRs and panos at the same time! Loved the panoramics. The Lightroom process is easier than I thought. Will definitely have to try that out now. As for the images, people or nature, for perspective, I tend to use nature, birds, sheep, goats, etc. But, if you can get perspective by using someone you know, travel companion, etc. then you now have perspective that you can relive with additional significance. I recently tried panoramas in lightroom for the first time and used an old 135mm ai lens but the results and was really impressed on how easy it was to stitch them all together! It seems counter intuitive to use a zoom lens for panoramas but the detail in the images were great! Got some amazing shots of snowdon last weekend! Keep up the great work!

Oh! And the image withe the person in it gives a better sense of scale than the one with te bird... the person is anchored down and easier to relate to where as the bird its a bit hazy on how close or how far away it is so harder to give you a sense of scale... (its not as iff you are posing for the picture anyway)
