Its important to check the table topper precuts before you purchasr with the intent to covert it. One or 2 table runner sets don't lend themselves well to be converted. Its inly a few, but I was disappointed when I bought a couple of the new Christmas kits because there wasn't a darker colored boarder to use to make the cornerstones. So, I made them as originally intended table runners snd all is well. I did call Jordan Fabrixs and ket thrm know and they agreed the particular table runner kit I had purchased didn't really wirk as a table topper. This is the first time I have ever been disappointed with a kit from Jordan Fabrics. Ever.

Love the table topper. Few questions: what size does this make? If I make this, I would want to buy the matching backing fabric, but have no idea how much is needed.Otherwise, the tutorial is great, and very informative. Watched your tutorial on how to make the table runner. You were using a Singer machine, and I must say, after watching you sew on your industrial machine, it was painful to watch! Also, could you give us the information on how to make your ironing pad or where to buy it? I am a beginner quilter and trying to iron the bigger quilts on it, can be difficult, so would like to make a square ironing surface. Any ideas you have would be appreciated. Thanks.
@jordanfabrics83807 жыл бұрын
We have a free download with all the measurements on our website here: jordanfabrics.com/pages/table-topper-modification-directions Our first few videos were filmed with me sewing on the Singer home machine because it is much quieter, but believe me - it is painful for me to sew with it! I am so used to the industrial, and so unfamiliar with the home machine that I finally decided to just film only using the industrial machine and am very happy now! We make our own ironing board by stapling heavy duty canvas over cotton batting onto plywood. We will make a video showing how to make one soon.

Love it but think ill need 3 kits?? I want the topper plus 4 placemats for my country kitchen table its 85 1/2 inches X 45...??? Would that. Give me enough material? Plus I would need yardage of 1 color for the backing..... What size does this. Topper turn out to be? And do you also have the yardage of these awesome colors still seeing this video is over a yearold?

Hi Donna - I received my first kit a few days ago from you (Cotton & Steel Paper Bandana), a table runner kit which I made into a table topper. So easy to put together! I am a relatively new sewist and it took me an afternoon to do the whole thing. Just need to quilt it a bit. I did have trouble with the corner stones... I did not square it off correctly I think. But, I decided to leave the corner stones off and just do the last bigger border all the way around and it worked beautiful. Plenty of fabric to do that and I actually like it better. The instructions you have available to convert the table runner to either a table topper or placemats is so clever. One suggestion - on your website, you could make suggestions for addition fabric needed for the back. This would be very helpful when ordering. Another suggestion - how about some precut kits using Art Gallery Fabrics? They are my favorite right now. Thanks so much!
@jordanfabrics83807 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. We are starting to add backing fabric suggestions to the listings to make it easier for our customers to get the coordinating fabric. I'll check out the Art Gallery collection and see what we can do.

? ??? Is there any reason the dark rails are in the center and the light on corners when putting the 4 log cabin blocks together? Or is this just a preference rather than a rule? The reason I am asking, is that the center square has a meaning regarding history of a log cabin block, i believe a widow or door. I like the dark on outer corners and light in center but I want to be correct in assembly. Thanks, ~ Sheri in AZ
@MrsGraphiteGal2 жыл бұрын
It's the centre of a single lot cabin block that traditionally represents the fire/hearth and would be a red square. The rails then go around, these are the walls of the cabin. Usually light/dark combination. The way the individual blocks are then arranged into a full runner, hanging, quilt can vary between several layouts, straight furrow, barn raising etc. However, these rules don't have to be followed, that's the beauty of quilting try different things.
