I just went out and made this, using my own style, but your measurements. Took my about 2 hours, incuding the beer. I finished testing not 30 minutes ago. IT WORKS!!! It works GREAT!! I'm impressed! I was getting 100% signal strength on most of the TV channels, using this. (never got that good before) PLUS, I have it sitting only 4' off of the ground , for testing. Imagine when I mount it up in the air. NOTE: I connected my coaxil directly to the z bars of the antenna. Split the copper and standed for 2 leads... Worked fine! All materials came from my sheds. Cost me $0.00 Well Done! Thank You!! Ken

Wow! Danny its great that you are showing how to make an antenna out of avaiable material. I have been there in my life where I had no money. I grew up poor in W. Arkansas and pulled my way up and got a college degree. I worked in the crop fields, hay, watermelons, cattle, turkey , all by the time I was 16. I started working at age 10. I became a teacher of science. Our schools really need people like you to teach the practical side of science. You do science every day. Frequencies, antennas, reception, wavelenghths, etc. A physical science class would get a lot out of this project. You are helping people by doing this. There may be a single mom who has little money or a retired person. I became disabled after teaching 20 yrs. I am in remission fron Non hogkins lymphoma, a blood disease, and bad pain comes with it all. This helps disabled bc they can put this together sitting in the house and saves them their limited money. You are a good Christian man thats why you are truthful , honest. You live your life that way. God bless and I always enjoy your viideos. I really think a physical science class or homeschoolers should have you come and talk about tv reception and capturing wave energy with antennas. You could talk about how you learned all of this.

Don't make the same mistake I initially did. As a EE (electrical engineer Purdue 82) I wrote Danny of as some crazy ol boy just screwing around. A antenna is all about math to work correctly. His math and dimensions are spot on and what he shows us works plain and simple. Once I understood this his presentation became fun for a stuffy northern engineer and will be for you too I bet.

Hello, Mr. Danny. I love all your videos, and especially the stories. I made the antenna made out of stuff that I had around. My antenna didn't look as nice as yours . When my wife saw it , she turned around and didn't say a word to me , I call my antenna Frankenstein. Mr. Danny, when I hooked up Frankenstein to the tv in the living room , and did my channel search, boy that sucker beat every antenna I ever had . I got 44 channels, without a booster , or reflector . I just wanted to see what would happen . Man, I love that ugly thing , works great !!! I just want to thank you , and thank you for your knowledge. Rob Esco

OK Danny - another good one. I bet most people would appreciate it if you would make a diagram or sketch with all the measurements on it. I believe that the spacing on EVERYTHING IS CRITICAL! I think I'll make one and send it to you so you can check my measurements. I thought about making a video about you making a video, but you're THE MAN! I couldn't give you enough credit.

Thanks for the uploading of your antenna videos! My wife likes to watch TV, but when our cable bill got jacked up $40/month more she said we got to get rid of cable. I said let's go get an antenna and we should be able to get the local stations. We purchased the cheapest rabbit ear one and couldn't pick up even one station no matter where I placed that antenna. Well I thought maybe an antenna with a booster would work better, so we got a more expensive one. Tried that one and only picked up 4 channels, but only abc was the only channel we wanted. That's when I found your how to make an antenna out of nothing. I saw another video of just using a coaxial cable with 8 inches stripped off as an antenna. I tried that and actually got 11 channels. Boy, I thought that was funny. How could just a wire pick up more signals than these store bought antennas? That's when I got to my work shop and just started to look for things that I could use to make an antenna similar to your early versions of your ultimate antenna. I created one for nothing and immediately picked up 18 stations and I didn't even add any boosters and had it only elevated above ground about 6 ft. I can hardly wait to see tomorrow what it will do when I mount it up on my roof.

Very cool idea I do use galvanized Rod similar to that on my antenna I do Gray hooperman so I don't have to worry about solder connections. I hope the Bailon to the middle insulate with liquid tape and it's good to go for years with no sanding. I live in a harsh salty environment just a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico. I have an idea for a wire plenty strong enough that is also galvanized and a lot of people already have them laying around. Easier to cut so have a challenge for you tomato cage TV antenna. They either have three or four legs to go to the top. For you folks that want a free piece of lumber. What would the Danny is using can be picked up in the loading area of any Lowe's or Home Depot right out of the trash can. That is the board that goes on the bottom of a unit of wood. The groove and the side is for the banding material. They just throw them away there are about 4 feet long. Danny when you finish up your video make sure they know if you're using a reflector you got to be spot on. You can't just put it on any wall or in any window. Period a nice test might be also Danny to use that mylar air conditioning tape that is very highly reflective. That might be an interesting off camera test

Nice video Danny. I was thinking watching your video that a perfect piece of plastic that would probably work would be the "flap" on the top of the old VHS tapes that is protecting the tape from being damaged. Most people have at least a few of those still sitting around and if not you can find them at Thrift stores for about a quarter to a dollar. Those pieces of plastic are nice and hard and seem to be thick enough for the job. A couple of pieces could easily be cut and filed to the right size.

Love your videos Danny! Thanks for showing what is important and the variety of things that can be used. I am going to make some out of stuff in my boneyard. I have some high tensile wire. Should I remove the galvanized before soldering? I am short on screen wire but I have some political signs I could use to make a reflector by sticking wire inside. Would 2 inch spacing be best? I don’t get any DTV reception because a hill rises 150’ in 900’ toward the statiions 55 miles away in Sacramento. My house is surrounded by 150’ trees which could be used to mount an antenna. I got a portable TV and what they call a 120 mile ultra amplified indoor antenna and got just 4 channels at the hilltop with the antenna 10 feet high. Not promising. So I am making a double antenna to see if can get more channels. If I get more channels I can build 2 smaller antennas to make a passive receiver (www.set.org.br/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/06_IEEE-format-Passive-Reception-of-Digital-TV-Signals-with-an-Antenna.pdf). Your work inspires me!
