Thanks for the second part of the video. Although I already have an antenna, I love watching your instructionals. Can't argue with experience. I'm glad you noticed the weakness's of the first versions mounting strip and turned it into a block. You are very clever. Out here in California, I am 65 miles from the antenna farm, but I get 152 channels.

I have built two of these antennas, one out of copper and one out of what he is showing here and both have the yard sign with aluminum foil as a reflector. I live about half way between Atlanta Ga. and Chattanooga Tn. In a very low place surrounded by pine trees, setting on our dining room table facing a window pointed in a NE direction i get all the Atlanta channels. Both work equally well. I also have the ultimate tv antenna i ordered off ebay hooked to the LNA 100 booster and get Atlanta UHF and Chattanooga VHF, this thing is a monster.

I like your antennas. I sure need to make one for my house. My store-bought antenna only picks up about twenty channels. It used to pick up thirty, when I first got it, but something changed. It came with a cheap booster. Maybe I should try that duel RCA booster that separates the VHF from the UHF. I have a learned a lot about antennas from watching your videos. Thank you explaining everything.

Yes, a VHF dipole has decent gain on UHF, so it would cancel out the UHF. You’re right; four inches back is best for the reflector, even on the Gray-Hoverman.

Hi Danny I have a question needing your expertise. I want to say I like your video and it's the most informative video on building your own antenna that actually works great. I live in Florida and having an Ariel just 10 feet off the ground that gets out to Orlando being exactly 60 miles away according to dtv.gov. I have a camper I'd like to use an inside antenna in. Would this go through the insulated aluminum walls, would it need a booster, or would it have to be an outside antenna to go the 60 miles?

Danny, is it possible to "tie" one antenna facing one direction to another facing a different direction together? It seems that would be the "trick" rather than having to rotate one antenna around in order to pick up a station. Thanks for your informative vids!

S.B. Chevy yes he is created and antenna that is what is known as Co phased. But rather than aim both antennas in the same direction the end one in One Direction and one in the other. What he builds is directional antennas. Directional antennas are better for long range. When you ain't one in One Direction and one of the other is bi-directional. The first video he had he talked about crossing the the beams. That wasn't the issue later he figured it out. When you Co phase two antennas you have to have what's called Co phasing harness. When an 18-wheeler or any other vehicle has two CB antennas one on one side one on the other the coax has to be identical. The same amount of coax on one side as the other. If you have one longer than the other it becomes a timing issue. Because both antennas are receiving a little bit of signal if you have a long piece of coax it takes longer to get to your TV and krates all kinds of problems they have to be exactly the same length. I have a very strong understanding of antennas. Mine comes from Gathering Knowledge from other people such as this man. I go back 40 or 50 years to the CB days and later ham radio. The amazing thing about this guy he gathers information and then he goes and does it himself he doesn't buy something out of the box. He learns from the School of Hard Knocks you may not know exactly why it works but he knows it works. When he post things he has done his homework and many hours of testing.

The trick with a CO phased antenna as Danny said the antennas have to be identical. They also in war importantly a have to have a co-pays harness which is an identical length of coax in between the jumpers. The reason is because each antenna will get the signal at the same time the signal travels at the speed of light. But through wire it is slower. That is why if you go through a complete setup on a surround sound they're having you time the back speakers because of the additional wire. If your coax is not identical it will hit the splitter at different times causing Mayhem

I don't know much about antennas but maybe if you put the flattened ends of the 2 wires INFRONT, (on the other side, of the screws before you tighten them down, causing the flattened wire ends to act as their own shims), you may solve the issue of the whiskers bending down.

Hey you like to fish? Let me give you my secret weapon! Cut a clothes hanger bout 8-9 inch take n cut w a hacksaw like a V or U on the end its kind of a pain to get that cut on the end! But its for threading night crawlers on small hooks say number 8-10 fish hooks on leader the fish cant see the hook n cant get the the worm easy either! Now you can say what you will how many times so called professionals w every kind lure n bait better boats etc. N we were catching fish like crazy most times just bobber fishing had are limit in about a half hour n were just catching n releasing n keeping the biggest ones until we got tired of fishing. N they people around us weren't catching nothing the other thing is u might use the same worm 4-5 times verses changing or rehooking or baiting another worm every time! I still fish the same way today! I thought about selling the idea in fish or bait shops its just its just hard to make the cut on the end of the wire Im sure somebody might know how I just always use a hacksaw blade vice n a pair of pliers n a lot of hit n miss! ha lol! Its great for trout, small mouth or large mouth bass , catfish, bluegill, perch, n teaching young kids how to fish I always had a blast. N really it is so simple kinda like ur TV antenna's like David verses Goliath i dont know why it even works? It just always does when I use it!

I got to tell you something about this guy. I've been in CB and ham radio for most of my life. I have a very good understanding of antennas. Antenna residence AKA SWR. When you're transmitting it has to be on the money the length of the antenna. When it comes to receiving it's a little easier ball game. You will not harm my receiver due to lack of residence only a transmitter. But it has to be within residence for it to work efficiently. I do not believe he has the background that I do and propagation also known as DX. What this man has done is tested tested tested and tested when he says this he's not lying and when he brings you an antenna on KZbin he knows enough if it's going to work or not work right off the bat and we are all surprised by some crazy designs. I wish I could remember what that spider looking thing with a triangle top was that he built. This guy stealing from a worst-case scenario dealing with long distance and tall trees. UHF and VHF is very dependent on line of sight. Either have to get it up in the air or find an open area in front of you and that's why it goes to the church ground. He promises a lot but he backs it up with results. I know it's antenna designs and I know out of the box designs and his whisker antenna but he calls the ultimate antenna is not by any schematic that you can buy. They are similar but when you put a tape measure to it they are not the same and they will not perform the way his does. If you follow this guy as I have he will show you out of the box antennas you will show you other people's designs and there is no other people's designs there always a version of something that was invented a long time ago. That said he will review other people's designs on KZbin and he will tell you why it won't work or show you that it doesn't work. He will give you comprehensive simple to follow tutorials and you will be watching TV with the proper tools and just a few hours. When he says you can take it to the bank he is tested it and he is absolutely correct. I fiddled around with antennas before finding him on KZbin I do not build his bow tie but I built one he is tested and said is just as good and is easier. Just as he said with the reflector he played with it and the spacing. And told everybody what worked. I'm sure he is footage of stuff that did not work it did not make it here. When Danny s Hodges says it's bad to the bone you can bet your last dollar on it. You have to have some knowledge before the transmitters 10 miles north of town 10 miles south of town when you're building a directional antenna to get ultimate performance. I would love to talk to him face to face because I have ideas and antenna designs we could throw down in the Church yard. Let me give you a little hint to one of my ideas Danny. For directional antennas with reflectors and then for different directions creating the DB gain of a directional antenna coupled with the versatility of an omnidirectional. 2 into a CO phasing harness two other ones into a CO phasing harness then bring the two into one. 4 antennas in an omnidirectional configuration. When you get a chance again late at night when tropospheric ducting is happening on a tall antenna the sky is the limit. You cannot scan an antenna turn it and scan it for other channels of other towns and then turn it and scan it for other channels of other towns because each time you lose your original scan
