I like the home brew wax injector but maybe not sophisticated enough. I found it more difficult to get a complete wax without air bubbles than to get a complete bronze casting - sometimes you actually need better venting for wax than for metal since wax has higher viscosity, less weight and more surface tension than metal, maybe...?
@lundgrenbronzestudios

A few thoughts on your processes With the ultrasonic cleaner, cut the coins off first then do them, it can take a few cycles and too many things in the bath at once can make it slower, so move the bits around between cycles. Also the liquid they're submerged in makes a big difference to the ability to remove things. For the silica acidic solutions work well, and can also help remove oxidation (I've not experimented enough with various things to give exact specifics on what's best, there's a bunch of commercial solutions that you can get specifically for different tasks, the msds sheets usually give up what's actually active in them to give ideas if you want to make your own) When removing junk from the coins in the cleaner, you'll get a buildup of silt on the bottom of the cleaner pretty fast and that quickly impacts the performance of the sonic waves. So I always use water in the cleaner, then put the items into a glass jar that has the actual cleaning solution in, the waves go right through glass nicely, and the silt is easier to remove and doesn't make messy work as can literally just pour liquid into another jar and continue. For your moulding technique, maybe consider using the fancy Castaldo rubber sheets (others brands are out there, but castaldo is most available in the UK and I think US) there's some super cheap no name rubber strips I get from CousinsUK that's £11 a kilo, called "Natural rubber Strips, Far East" which is considerably cheaper and for my method of using it, works great. To use those sheets you're supposed to waste a ton of money on a super overpriced heat press that has hot plate on either side that clamps down with a screw to make it squish, namely a Vulcanizer. Mould wise, you cut pieces to fit the mould, lay a few sheets down, put your item in then sheets on top, you can add dimples n shit and a mould release so it's an instant two part mould, I'm lazy and enjoy cutting them tho. Normally, you'd throw that into the vulcanizer and Cook it for a period of time. Personally, I can't afford to blow money on toys like that, so I made an alternative method that works good for me :) Take two sheets of steel, cut them to fit over the mpukd frame, leaving an inch or two past the edges of the frame. You then drill in holes around those edges. How big the frame is defines how many you want. You can use sandcasting to make hour frames from wood, then use belt sander to make top and bottom very flat. For use, you put the filled mould frame on the bottom sheet, (make sure there's rubber a few mm at least above the level of the mould) and put the other sheet on top. Then push your bolts in (you could just weld them in place I guess) and use nuts to tighten down the plate. You want it pretty tight on all sides, I follow engine block tightening patterns, to balance out the pressure and don't fully tighten on first time, then use a ratchet to crank them down nice and hard (you'll have to get the feel for how much is needed, but tbh I usually go all the way as hard as I can, its not needed to, I just like to cos I'm lazy lol) Now, to make the rubber cure, you chuck it into a preheated kiln, and leave it there resting at a period of time and temperature you'll have to work out yourself. Go by guidelines at first, then adjust to balance, it'll take a little trial and error for each rubber type. If you leave it too long it absolutely will turn to foul smelling black gunk, so I usually err on side of caution and do them fairly short times. Once its done, I'm lazy and just drop it in a bucket of water to cool off quickly, and then unbolt and remove the mould then cut cut cut! If you do give that method a go for fun, I recommend using the smallest mould frame size you can bother with to start so minimising waste and using shit you don't care about in case of mush. Oh, and drill a hole in the side of the mould frame, so the rubber has somewhere else to escape, it'll help a lot. And when putting object in the frame, add a object to act as a sprue that's not gonna get pushed out the hole, but lining up to it, it'll not be visible immediately, but it'll be right next to the hole and make a perfect injection spot. When injecting wax, I buy a LOAD of disposable syringes at a time, ones appropriately sized for the stuff I'm making so I'm not taking up too much wax. I use a hot pot filled with water, and the wax in a container that rests inside it and taller it (balance of water to wax as it'll float if too light) then play with setting to get wax right temp (trick with dimmer switch to fine tune heat works here too) I'll then just quickly suck up the needed volume and inject. They will break eventually, after 20-50 uses, sometimes more, so just ditch them when they break and get a new one, they're cheap consumables for me. When injecting, I use pieces of wood with the same style as the metal sheets, and use bolts with wing nuts to hand tighten to right pressure so I can quickly inject, let cool for a few seconds then remove and add next mould (I usually make 3+ so there's time for each preceding one to fully cool so the part can be removed as I loop to the start) I find this to work as well as professional setups. A lot of pros use either their bare hands to hold in place, or just two sheets help together by hand force alone, but after getting molten wax on my hands and body a few times I gave up learning that way and use the wood press thingy. With your mould making for regular silicone. Consider you can use sticy wax to stick the sprue to the thing, and use wire through a hole in the sprue to dangle it in the cup then add all the silicone in at once :) For polishing, consider using diamond polishing compounds, they're fairly cheap and you don't need to use much on each Spinny fluff ball, they'll let you get mirror finish pretty quickly. Just use the ultrasonic and degreaser, then quick rinse in water to clean off the previous gunk before going onto a finer grit Hope these tips come in useful and loving your progress and awesome level of finished products man, you're getting more awesome every video!

Back in the day you could walk in your local non-ferrous foundry and they'd sell you cut up gates, risers etc. The few I visited usually had good selection of clean alloys at fair prices, and if not too busy were happy to answer any questions, though one unscrupulous foundryman sold me some silicon bronze contaminated with lead. Today with all the safety litigation concerns it may be best to call first, if you can find one.

You ever look into using petrobond? That being said I was in a commercial foundry; the prices petrobond fetches these days is crazy. Though I remember as a kid being surprised that the bronze picked up my fingerprints off of the wax profiles used to radius the bottom of our runners. You've got that old school investment down! For ceramic shell are you using a premix like R&R's suspend-a-slurry or the Remet approach?
