Dhal Recipe
2 cups of yellow split peas washed
Add to a pot with boiling water
Add 2 tsp salt
Add 3 small onions finely chopped
Add 6-8 cloves of garlic finely chopped
Add 7 ochro cut into small pieces
Add 1 tbsp turmeric
Add 1 tbsp roasted ground green/ cumin
Pressure for 10-12 minutes
In a pan with 2 tsp oil
Add 1 tsp whole geera/ cumin
Then add to the dhal for extra flavours
Karela Recipe
5 karela thinly sliced
In a pan with 2 tsp oil
Add 2 small onions finely chopped
Add 6-7 cloves of garlic finely chopped
Add 1/4 hot pepper
Add 1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp turmeric
Fry to desire
Baigan/ eggplant/ Choka Recipe
1 Baigan scored several places
Add 3 cloves of garlic into the scored parts
Roast until soft
Roast 1 tomato
Finely chopped 1 small onion
Finely chopped 1 green onion
Finely chopped 1/4 hot pepper
Peel Baigan and tomato and mash with a fork
Mix well and add 1/4 tsp salt
Add 1 tsp hot oil and mix well
Shrimp/ Prawns Curry recipe
2 1/2 lbs. of shrimp peeled, deveined , washed and seasoned with a pinch of salt and 1 tbsp green seasoning
In a bowl
Add 2 tsp roasted geera
Add 2 tsp turmeric powder
Add 2 tbsp Lala’s curry powder
Add 2 heaping tbsp green seasoning (garlic, thyme, green onions and pepper)
Mix into a paste
Add to a pan with 1 tsp oil
Cook until curry paste is sticking to the bottom of the pan
Add 1/4 cup of water
Add 1 onion finely chopped
Add 1 tsp salt
Add shrimp
Add 5 Ochro cut into halves
Cook for 3-4 minutes
Add 1 tomato cut into small pieces
