Great information. I’m just starting out and have purchased stock footage to make my own edits. Is it okay to use that as a demo reel despite me not doing the actual filming?

That sort of defeats the purpose of a demo reel, clients only want to see your work. If you haven’t shot it, don’t include it.

It can definitely be used to show off editing. So if you're doing like an explainer with other complimentary motion graphics or something like that it shouldn't be an issue. If it's just footage you're adding in to cut with and nothing more then don't do that lol. It's not your work and I don't think just showing a nice mountain landscape shot by someone else sells your own skillset well lol.
