Take a pic with you phone first before taking it apart. You can also put a drop of glue on the breaks in the jump rings; it helps a bit.

You just use the hot glue around the edges and hold them down.

LADY K I don’t really like tacky glue against my skin but it should work.

How do you get rid of the excess hot glue after it solidifies? Love the necklace btw.

I sometimes use and exacto knife or scissors to trim any overhanging glue bits. If you are conservative with the glue then it's usually not an issue.

These are lovely pieces. I am a button lover and would like to create some wearable art with some of my collection, but I am balking at the idea of putting glue on my precious buttons! I'm wondering if you have ever tried stitching the buttons to the felt backing instead?

buckeyepelican I have tried several iterations over the years, wire is okay but my carpal tunnel doesn’t allow much of that. For my style the glue holds fine, and as long as they aren’t fabric buttons any silicone glues won’t damage the buttons. I make sure to identify the material to any and all buttons before using them in my crafts. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

Can the hot glue be removed if you want to remove a particular button? I am looking for ways to use more valuable buttons as jewelry and I'm not sure I want to commit a $20 button to this project.

If you want to reuse the button someday I wouldn't recommend this method. Wire wrapping would definitely be easier.
