Hi Melanie! thank you so so much for everything you do. I'm 17 and still in school but for years now i religiously save your videos to my watch later to watch on days where i'm feeling down, because you're one of those people that are just so uplifting. Your project reset especially helps on days where the depression is rough, and you're a constant source of light and motivation to keep going, and that things will get better. I love how real you are, and how all things in your life aren't perfectly aesthetic or tidy, but that everything is just so raw. Thank you thank you thank you!

This might be a very good exercise for me. Sometimes I feel like I'm just riding the wave and let things happen to me instead of actually working towards something. Visualizing what I actually want from life might be motivating enough to work towards these goals instead of taking the path of least resistance. My life as it is right now is by no means 'bad', it just feels like nothing was an actual acomplishment I deliberatly went after.

It gives me a feeling certainty that ‘this is temporary’ xxx

I'm so relieved that you speak so positively about breastfeeding. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and all I've heard so far is 1st-moms complaining about it, hating it, saying that it's overhyped, and I have several women in my family who had their first borns last year and all they talk about is how horrible breastfeeding is because it's so time consuming and exhausting, and how they will be using 100% formula with their 2nd kids when they have them. And I keep an open mind about my future experience, I don't know how I'll feel about it when I'm in it, and whenever I hear a positive experience (which aren't many) it's a breath of fresh air in my life.

I have a dream of starting my own podcast for the longest time. Last year I told everyone who asked me what my new year's resolution was for 2021 "yep, I'm gonna do it, I finally have to do it, I have no option now, I've told all of you". It's December 2021 and all I've come up with is a name... 😢 Other than that I finally had time to join the NaNoWriMo this year because I finally graduated uni and only have to focus on doing a boring job (4x a week) which leaves me with evenings and 3 days to focus on my writing, but for some reason, November passed me by and I just couldn't find the time or energy to do it. So then I just decided to not do it instead of beating up myself about having dreams and not pursuing them. Idk, I feel kinda lazy about my dreams, yet the quote "most men lead lives of quiet desperation" and Maya Angelou's quote “.”still haunt me to this day. I think what I've been missing is more specific goals and a dream board will hopefully help me with that. I'll use this video as a push to creating my own timeline and a vision for myself so that 2022 doesn't pass me by with unfulfilled dreams and goals, yet again! Anw, just a long time subscriber here with a need to vent bc you do feel like a virtual friend indeed 💚

I knew this was a video I'd need some quiet time to dedicate my full attention to. I've never thought the whole "vision board" thing was for me. The whole manifestation concept seemed too much like wishing for your dreams to come true. But your philosophy about this - the idea that having a concept about what your future WILL look like (not just could look like), and that giving motivation and focus to your current self is brilliant (feels like time traveling!). I absolutely love the idea of having folders on your computer for this purpose - and it also makes them considerably easier to keep current as your wants/desires change. Do you have any advice for a shorter time duration? (Ie. 1-2 years). I've considered doing one less than a 5 year vision, but worry that if I dont "achieve" those things within the shorter time frame, I'll be discouraged (any tips for overcoming this would be so appreciated). I've wanted to have both a career I enjoy, and be a mom since I was a little girl (my mum was a great inspiration). The passion, love and utter joy with which you speak about motherhood and your darling little boy brings me to tears. Thank you for this inspirational video; it's going into my favourites and YOU on my vision board. Love always 💚💚💚
@melaniemurphyofficial2 жыл бұрын
This comment made me so happy! 🥰❤️ As I said about trusting the timing…sometimes something you’d love to experience in the coming year won’t happen for five or ten but usually it’ll be for good reason - there may be lots of lessons to be learned that need to happen first etc! Discouragement is almost like self sabotage with this stuff…know that if it hadn’t happened yet, it will, or it’s because something better will come 💚 Thinking that way keeps me in a really positive headspace! But yeah when it comes to the short term if you first start with a general idea of your dream life blueprint, break it down into more bite size pieces…like me with my house for example. I knew that many people my age cannot afford to hit houses in Dublin, I looked into all the things that I had to stack in my favour in order to get a mortgage…how much I had to save…and years back I simply focused on moving in that direction slowly but surely! I try to approach everything this way and when life gives me lemons I make lemonade ☺️❤️

@@melaniemurphyofficial thank you for the advice! I'm so pleased you and Thomas finally found your first house! (My sister and I are also in the same situation - cannot find any place where we live/close to parents that we can afford, even if we go in together, and neither of us have any partners right now, so no chance at a mortgage). I've been watching your videos for years and keep my whole family updated on how you are doing 😅 my mum is also really happy you've gotten your home, and thinks Pan is the sweetest (such a strong little boy!). Your journey, not just as a creator on youtube, but your life that you have shared online has truly inspired me. I'm a nurse, but due to certain physical health issues, I always knew it wouldnt be a long-term sustainable career (I love it though, and specialize in caring for the elderly). I am currently working part time, AND going back to school (exams are next week!) to finish a degree (in a different field) that I started nearly 10 years ago (with my transfer credits, and summer courses, I will finish my degree and teachers college in 4 to 5 years total). Not at all where I thought I'd be at 28 (almost 29) when I finished high school, but like you've said, things have happened the way they have, and in the order they have because other things needed to happen first. Hope you, Thomas, little Pan, and the rest of the Murphy-O'Rourke family have a cozy holiday! (P.S. if you guys get snow, tell us all about what Pan thinks of it!) 💚😊🎄❄☃️ (P.P.S. May you also soon get your big white dog 🐶 - still fond of the name Albus?)

Good God, I'll never be a wife or mother unfortunately (worst of all this means I will never be a grandmother) but I couldn't help but chuckle with relief when you said you'd let your kid choose the theme of his bedroom because for a moment I thought you were going to force him to sleep in a dinosaur/whimsical forest themed hellhole LOL

I don't comment often even though I watch every single video you post the minut you do, but you saying you don't express gratitude often enough got me thinking-I don't either! So thank you so much for just existing, you have been such a positive force on me for so many years. I'm definitely going to make a newer vision board and you and your family are probably gonna be on it because I can only hope I turn out to be as a great human as you. 💚💚💚

We are so different on many levels! But you inspire me! I'm a pretty long term subscriber. I don't want kids, I barely believe in marriage, and so many other things. But you're view on life is so healthy. You still understand bad days, weeks, months, sometimes years. And you don't forget that and do everything to be a happy healthy person!

I love your energy so much, that's why I've been watching you for years 💕 I'm in my 20s starting to figure out who I want to be, and even if I don't have a vision of how I want my life to be in 10 years I do know some things I want to work to mid term, this is really helpful

regarding the thing you said about having your own brand - I would looove to see something like the Me Time journals again! and maybe if you want it to be a bit of a broader brand, you could add in some lifestyle bits around that

first of all, you're one of my very favorite KZbinrs because I really feel like you want to bring value to your viewers and you're so honest. ... and your Irish (like my dad) and super creative :) also, I have bought myself 'If Only' for Christmas and can't wait to read it. These are a few of the things on my vision board: release my first EP, get a good and stable band and go on tour, pass the entry exam to the UdK to study music again, do a semester abroad, find a great apartment, be healthy :) xx

Yaaaah to more gardening! I love too garden and just planted another tree in our garden. It's the 6th tree and we don't have a huge garden! Best advice I can give as a mother with 2 kids, 3.5 years and a 6 month old, is to plant things that are going to live for years and need little work to maintain. Raspberrys, strawberry, apple trees..... That way you will always have something you can harvest with the kids without having to plant it in spring. Start planning the garden in January February and start planning seeds in February March April indoors. Plant out in April may! If you want some awesome garden inspiration then check out the videos from the last 2 summers of the Chateau diaries.

I use a notebook every year for my vision board. I have loose goals and wishes for the year and every month and I decorate it with things I like the look of and things I want to have or experience or become in my life and it has changed so much for me tbh!

I can feel the change in me, when you announced your buying a house I was so genuinely joyful for you! I first watched your videos when I was in an unhealthy, codependent 4.5 year long relationship. I saw your relationship with yourself and with Thomas and I wanted something like that for myself so bad but so firmly believed that it wasn’t possible or attainable for me. But I am out the other side now, and I am working to love myself and protect myself harder than ever before. Thank you for being the internet big sister I needed so badly!! Thank you thank you thank you!! - from a 25 year old gal stranger on the internet!!!!

Could you cite some of the studies you're getting your information from? I looked at the one you cited and it doesn't really have a meaningful link to a lot of the content you talk about in this video. They showed that mental contractions of subject's little fingers and elbows can lead to an increase in strength of those voluntary contractions compared to a control group. The group that actually did the exercises physically found a greater increase in strength (around 20% more than for just mental exercises). Their findings may be useful for patients who need physical rehabilitation but are initially too weak to participate but I don't see how this has much to do with the general use of "manifesting" that's popular at the moment. I don't think you can take the case of mental exercise enhancing cortical output signal which drives muscles to a higher activation level and apply that as evidence that mood boards or manifesting works. A similar problem might be if I tell you that gravity results in a force that pulls you towards something's centre of mass but then go on to say this is evidence that if I was standing next to a large building I'd be pulled next to it like a magnet on a fridge. The concept is there but an assumption has been made to reach the next statement which has little basis. This assumption was made because I don't understand gravity with enough competence to know otherwise.

I wasn’t linking it as ‘evidence’ I was linking it as an example of the power of the mind ☺️✨ Our minds are capable of absolutely incredible things. That knowledge is important if you’re to believe you can communicate with your subconscious in a way that impacts your choices & what you’re capable of bringing about in your own life x

I reckon the thinking here was a little more "wishy-washy" than your scientific brain will be comfortable with (my assumption of course). My interpretation is that the study is used more to showcase the incredible ability of mental activity without the input of physical activity. And this, combined with a general belief that science a) cannot (yet) explain everything , and b) has previously provided evidence for things commonly thought be impossible, can be interpreted as reasonable "evidence" for some unexplained mental capability linked with manifestation. Did that make sense? 😂 I've done zero research to back up my opinion so feel free to disregard it haha!
@duck61002 жыл бұрын
@@melaniemurphyofficial Yeah suspected you might say something like that. The implication you made by citing that study in this specific video, whether you intended to or not, was "our brains are powerful enough to do this, therefore it isn't unreasonable to suggest it can do all this other stuff as well" which is a big assumption. Putting that aside, it might be worth considering providing citations for all the other claims you made? You genuinely don't strike me as the type that would choose not to do research in the things you talk about online and I genuinely would be interested to read where you're getting your info from. Anyway maybe we agree to disagree on this and at least I'm glad this video obviously made others really happy. Have a good rest of your evening.

@@katie.sleeps I'm a 🌠 woman in STEM 🌠 so your assumption isn't far off. I would say here, firstly, that a lack of scientific evidence to describe a phenomenon is not an excuse to abandon the scientific method and make your own theory based on no evidence, nor is a lack of evidence equivalent to evidence. Science is not perfect because humans practise it. It is continously updated and improved which is why we need to be critical of it. However, being critical is not equivalent to disregarding a scientific consensus as a layman because you think you know better (that's how we got anti-vaxxers). In this case, manifestation in the popular sense of the word can be attributed to confirmation bias which is a phenomenon incredibly well established within psychology. I'm perfectly open to having my mind changed on manifestation, that's the nature of being a scientist. If you're not willing to abandon theories when they're disproved, you're bad at your job. I'm just going to need more than "our minds are so powerful and incredible 🥰🌈🌼🌹" to convince me.

@@leanne2030 tbh although I think it's nice to be able to have discussions like this in the comments, it's Mel's channel so I'd accept if she wanted to delete this thread or similar ones, especially if it devolved into one big argument. I find stuff like that kind of stressful so fair play if she feels a similar way 😊

I've just started a vision board over the summer and I find it so calming! I genuinly feel like I'm looking through a little window into the future whenever I look at it. I also have a lot a books, notebooks, laptops... Anything that helps me focus on publishing my books! One very specific thing I have is Little Mix at this year's BRIT Awards: successful women, making history, a healthy female friendship, all in happy relationships, two of them pregnant... They just represent the kind of woman I want to become in the near future!

This video is ✨pure gold✨. I've been watching your videos probably since your uni days but this is the first time i'm writting here. I'm just so thankful that i've discovered you back in the day. Our life, visions and goals are sooo diferent, but when i see you i feel like i'm listening to an inspiring and honest friend who helps me realize that i can do everything that i set my mind to. I'm so happy to see you happy and reaching goals beyond your imagination, Mel. I'm starting my vision board today. It's my first virtual one, but i want to see how i feel about it. My main goal is moving abroad! Something that i reaaaally want to experience but i've been putting it off. Kisses from Buenos Aires!
