OMGawd!! You just saved me and my Hubby a months worth of bitching at each other how we were going to build a body cart for our 66 resto. (He is OCD and overthinks - he wanted to build out of perforated steel tubing, I said wood). This is beyond perfect! Why reinvent the wheel. I showed him this video at 2AM (hey, I couldnt sleep, I am an ED Nurse) and he agreed now that he can see it. Now to convince him to not use fixated casters (again my medical background - he be looking for trouble!) Thank you more than words can say. :)

Great fun video,..my favorite part was I think maybe Gary? saying "Oh My Gosh!" as you lifted the body off the pan. Been there done that,..not super heavy with help,.but the way it pulls you in as everyone tries to lift, balance, and move away from the pan underneath at the same time. There is a brief "oh my gosh",..I don't think I have this, then, bang it's off.

built tis, but what is not on the plan is the bottom braces across. we put body on top and base started spreding apart. we grabbed some rachet straps to pull back together, i need to get couple pieces of lumber to fix it.

Not bad for a bunch of car guys! I’m a retired Woodworker! I really loved thT little trailer behind the Bus BTW Harbor Freight sells a fairly inexpensive pocket hole jig that allows you to fasten boards in a 90 degree fashion all you need to do is square cut the boards and the pocket holes are easy to do and very strong there are more expensive jigsoutvthere but it’s not needed to spend the money plus the Harbor Freight one is all metal and should la#t you a lifetime of use even doing other odd jobs around the garage shelves Engine stands etc you get the idea In wooden boat building often the builder makes a complete wooden circle around the boat hull that enables you to roll the boat around and work on the sides and bottom easier mimicking a auto rotisserie’s functions I saw one guy do that for a vw bus he restored ,! Good idea if you have the space to do it m in ? Often wood shops for boat building are pretty big buildings

Great video, nice one. If I may respectfully point out a flaw in this plan though.... You often split the body and pan to fit new heater channels, and how can you possibly work on the heater channels with the body supported on those wooden planks right under the A and B pillars? That's exactly where you need to be working. That area is often rusty or rotten so needing new metal welding in, and you definitely need to work there when fitting new heater channels. This is impossible with this dolly. Making one where the body rests on the dolly at the places where the main body is fastened to the pan (the two main front bolt holes under where the fuel tank is, and the two rear ones near the rear shocks) would be far better. Well, in my humble opinion anyway. However I'm sure you used it well and got what you needed from it.

The car is rust free so there will me little to no metal work done to this one. Personally it never needed to be split from the pan but its something that the previous owner did. But it will give me a chance to fully redo the pan. -Martin
