Who says you're handicapped? Look at that amazing oil burner! I've got Primary Progressive MS so I can identify with your condition. I'm not in a wheelchair yet, but I'm definitely disadvantaged. Great job, especially recycling the brake rotors, and old tank. I once saw a setup similar to yours, and the guy used a commode float in a remote tray, level with the burner tray to keep the oil level constant.

this is one i made. yours looks lot like my plans from FB. awesome. glad see people making them. i have since made changes. i now use a 3qrt pot. and i made a concrete base for it. it sits on the ground. well catch pan on the floor. need a bigger combustion chamber to get better heat. and i use small wood pieces. i get a gallon to last 12 hours. with 4 4" logs 1" round or 2" round. :) bigger pot better. i never put more then a half gallon oil in my system. it holds. a gallon. but i run safe. Like your ideas of using two brake drums instead of a pan. More metal Mass. What temperatures you achieve based on certain hourly consumption. Good job
@R1FREESTYLE5 жыл бұрын
Akram Thanks, I never measured the temperatures, but things got very hot. It was enough to warm up a large body of water for a hot tub, see my other video demonstrating that.

I like this design and execution! I didn't follow though---where were the two nuts with welded tabs used--the ones drilled and threaded for the set screws? Were those used in regulating the oil flow? probably not but I didn't see where they went or what use they were? anybody?
@R1FREESTYLE8 жыл бұрын
Lynn, The screws were just to hold the copper pipe against the body of the heater, the idea being it warms and thins the oil before it enters the combustion chamber. The flow was regulated by a tap on the polythene hose at the top of the copper pipe. hope that helps!
@DeseretRider8 жыл бұрын
I did notice the excellent weld quality when watching the second time---and I watched the video showing the stabilizers and how they work. Your invention? How talented you are---God bless you.

@R1FREESTYLE8 жыл бұрын
RoyMach1ne yes, getting the flow correct is tricky, hence the tell tail where it drops into the funnel. When the rate is correct and it is up to temperature there is no visible smoke at all.

Love to see others ideas. I guess you machined the stem between the bottle and the brake rotors? Wish I had a lathe to do so. Some explanation would have been good. I wanted to hear the burner in action to hear how loud it was, some burners get very noisy. Nice work. As they used to say back in my day, Keep On Truckin'.
@R1FREESTYLE8 жыл бұрын
The burn chamber was machined for me by my old man out of some scrap stainless he had lying around. Take a look at this later video I did, should give you an idea of the noise it would make when cranked right up. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWi1qGtmnL6id8k

Hi. Look at my side - "waste oil burner". What do you thing abot this solution of waste oil burner?
@R1FREESTYLE9 жыл бұрын
+vepo24 wow, you are generating some heat there! Is it fan assisted
@cRazyfRictioN-dRift8 жыл бұрын
i see some smoke coming from the rear. most of my designs suffer from this eventually with age and use . do you have a solution to for containing all of the smoke or to prevent exterior burn of the heater? i have made a few very high efficiency low consumption burners by adding concentrated jet of air to super heat the burn plate, but they all eventually leak and contaminate the air in my garage.
@R1FREESTYLE8 жыл бұрын
Yes, there was nearly always a little smoke given off, until the burner got up to temperature. Once up to temp, it became very hungry for air (especially when the oil feed was turned right up) and burned very clean and smoke free.

beautiful job. i would guess most emissions would be trapped in the tank and fall out the bottom, ready for landfill, and with the sweet spot found on the fuelling, barely any emissions nor odour.

Okay, help me out here... So the oil burns at the very bottom and continues burning through the perforated chamber (which I assumes increases the heat via added airflow), but what's the point of the tank above that? Is it just an expansion chamber?
@R1FREESTYLE7 жыл бұрын
fromkentucky the tank is there just as a mass to absorb and radiate the heat that is generated
