great video, especially using rudimentary tools anyone can get. i request 2 things though. first, test this same exact "pump" setup to see how much vertical lift it will achieve. second, test this with a high speed rotary drill such as a rotozip or dremel to see what performance gains or other problems might arise.

Thank you for the video tutorial first of all. The pump itself may be SIMPLE in design but, Not everyone has the means of having ALL of the tools required to make it. If you figure out how to make a hand pump version with just using SIMPLE hand tools, That video would be appreciated as well!

Instead of a lathe you already have the grinder and drill use the drill as you're lathe and the grinder as you're cutter and the welder well really no use for it just use j.b.weld now if you don't own a 20$ drill and a 20$ grinder you should probably call a plumber since you probably call everybody else to do your work for you anyway

Lol tools all you need is a 20$ drill and a 10$ grinder and if you don't have that already you sure do spend a lot more then that everytime you have to call a handyman over to fix your problems around your house you might as well have him make it for you as well

Simple hand tool ok a screwdriver a hand saw and a piece of sandpaper everyone is thinking to hard about power tools instead of thinking of a solution around that tool there is never a problem just a solution and that's for you to figure out how to get around it

I built a small centrifugal pump a long time ago using an old motor from a discarded phonograph. With yours, I just don't see that it would have a particularly long operating life since you did not include bearings between the shaft and the housing. Your journal bearing is metal vs. plastic and that won't last. Since you went through all that trouble to build, you could have included a metal bushing in lieu of a better bearing. What sort of head does your pump produce? Also, unless you used stainless, black iron, or bronze, didn't your impeller rust?
