Imma build one to so birds squirrels , deer can drink out of it or frogs , tadpoles, water bugs and what not can live in it . Omg imagine seeing a deer drink from it that would be cool

Nice one.Some brief suggestions----you mentioned sand underneath your liner.Definately do this,or use some old carpet or carpet underlay.You`ll be surprised how small stones,but particularly plant/tree/hedge roots will pierce your liner after awhile.I wouldn`t have put mine so close to a hedge either.
@LCWDIY4 жыл бұрын
In one of my first videos I had to dig under that hedge for a new MDPE water pipe and I was surprised to find hardly any deep or big roots from that hedge. Even when I dug that hole there was only a couple of roots and hardly any stones in the ground. I'm pretty confident it will be fine for many years but I understand your concerns and I suppose other people's condition would be different which is why I suggested putting the sand down if they had more stones than me. 👍

If your area gets below freezing in the winter that's not going to be deep enough. It needs to be 60cm I believe.

When I bought the liner for mine I didn’t think about that and i ended up digging it 3 foot deep so i had 2 get a bigger liner

Put an old duvet in the hole before the liner mate.

Old carpet or underlay always a good idea you can even cut it up too fit the contours then put the liner in

Yes if you have some laying around that would be good to cover any sharp objects.

IS THERE A FOLLOW-UP VIDEO OF HOW THE POND LOOKS ,WITH PLANTS AND THE FINISHED PRODUCT?? AWESOME JOB BY THE WAY ❤️❤️🌿🌿🐝🦋

Great video but in my experience, that cheap pond liner will leak in no time. The thick rubber stuff is much better.
@LCWDIY2 жыл бұрын
Yes the thicker the better. This one is still fine after 3 years though.

I have one in my garden made by the former owner and its sprung a leak that I can't find about 5-7 cm down from the edge and it means I have exposed blue tarp staring me in the face. Its either drain and retarp or get a solid plastic one, Not keen on either option really.

I know this is gonna sound like a advertisement but I used flex tape on mine in my previous yard and it actually worked for about a year. Enough time for me to get the motivation to fix it. Just dunked it under the water and taped the hole.
