Minecraft Transit Railway mod (found on Modrinth) is the mod for creating a realistic and sophisticated railway. There is even a Discord server for help in understanding the mod.

This is a good build, but I’m not adding this to my city because there’s 2 trains and you use a mine cart. Also you’re on Java but I’m on bedrock and I don’t have extra layers.

If you want an animation you can use structure blocks but it'd take a bit of effort

@FMasterMCPEG Depends on what it is, for this structure blocks would be easier (hiding the border lines would be a bit of a challenge but not impossible) but for some things structure blocks are a pain to deal w/

Btw you can use command blocks to make a moving train. Just use the clone command of tp command
