These are not dread locs this is just coiled hair. The term is afro curls or coils. Another = Afro textured curls or coils. You did amazing but these are not locs. Frizzy Afro hair is very diverse. Looking up black hairstyles is ok to start with but really understand the different terminologies just not out of respect but to diversify your own profolio and better teach the varieties of hair/black hair. Taken the time to do this was great so thankyou for that. You are very talented.

Great point! I'm a white artist trying to find resources and tutorials on creating different textured hair styles and it's really hard to find resources that are accurate and using current tech. Love this tutorial, btw, but I was trying to find a loc tutorial using the new geonodes hair pipeline, and still haven't found it.

@@immanismjr5606being anal, also is something that needs to be addressed now a days also. I’m black and can understand people won’t know everything about groups, I’m Central American black living in the United States and their is difference between black groups here that I could easily get mad at someone for assuming something about me because my skin looks like theirs, or I can just not be anal to everything. Sensitivity is a dangerous weakness.

Hey black guy chiming in here: i really appreciate the way you talk about our kind of hair and show it kindness and respect. You obviously put time and genuine thought into giving the style justice. You've got my sub :) (I will say that I used to have like, waist-length dreads myself and while this isn't really dread-like, it is still good style.)

I'd love to see dread locs! Im pretty new to blender, but i love your products so far. I just ask if you could do a more step by step approach, like in the cornrows tut, you start off in a mode that is different from when we first open the file and also when you say "Just append your head to this file or this file to your head.." As a newbie, i kinda need to see that done. You have excellent products, just as a newbie i find them to be extremely difficult to apply to my models@@NinoDefoq

For those working in eevee, go to render properties and look for "Curves" or "Hair". Set shape to strip. That should make the hair look thicker.

Thanks for this. I needed the ending where you color it because mine didn't work. For some reason, Blender decided to add a SECOND hair system and that one had shorter hair and I was coloring that one and couldn't see the changes due to the FIRST white hair that was longer. I saw the part had 2 hair systems so when I deleted the old one... bam, I could see the new color finally. But question to anyone.. how can I copy/paste the hair system I have for this part to SEVEN other parts without just adding a curve to them all separately and adjusting length settings, etc? thx!
@NinoDefoq
@NinoDefoq Жыл бұрын
Maybe you can trim the part of the mesh that has the hair (create a scalp of sorts) and duplicate it to your other parts. Then shinkwrap the scalp to the other models and the hair should follow the shape nicely.

Only recently discovered you but I love your content, it is so helpful. I'm not a POC but I'm creating a POC character, and I was wondering how you would go about making cornrows that are then tied into a ponytail? My thinking is to use the braid geometry node you provided in another video for the braid, and then add another empty hair that I simply groom into looking like the hair of the scalp going into the braid itself - and then repeat that for every "row" so to speak. Because I'm not sure how else one could create such a hairstyle, since the braid doesn't only attach in one place, it uses hair from a whole section/row of your scalp. Then there's the fact that I want them to end up in a ponytail, so I figured it'd be easier to just fake the scalp-to-braid thing than to actually create or use a geometry node that would look like or actually function as a cornrow. Regardless, it's really hard to find POC hair tutorials so it's nice to see you make a video on hair such as dreads!

why so many guide hairs. surely the point is make less guide hairs and then interpoate between them? The one thjng missing from this new system is a paint modfier like in xgen, ie the abilty to sculpt the indivdual hairs, not just the guides. You have to collapse all the modifiers before you can do this ita a really essential feature as just using modifers is not enough
