How to go Off Grid?
Alright, Let DO THIS!
So, this presentation is going to give you everything you need to start building with AirCrete right now! Lets Go!
You Need:
Lumber, a sheet of plywood, metal dividers cut to fit in mold, digital spill proof scale that measures in grams, 1 quart measuring container from the paint department, screws, a 50 gallon drum, 2 pivots for the drum, 1/2 chuck 8 amp or greater corded drill, 3 flat blade spiral pro mixer, portland cement, foam machine, seventh generation soap or Drexel foam, latex or cement bonding agent, cheap calking & caulk gun, 5 gallon buckets, cement trowel, soft polyester reenforceing fabric, water, and a power source for the tools.
Now, Measure one gallon at a time into a bucket and mark the bucket at each gallon until the bucket is full. Using the marked bucket put 6 & 1/2 gallons of water into the 50-gallon drum. Next, fill another bucket 2/3's full of water and add 2 cups seventh generation dish soap or 4 ounces of Drexel foam agent, mix and then fill to top of the bucket with water. Insert foam machine intake line and prime pump. Place a 1 quart measuring container onto scale and tare or zero scales, set it to measure grams. Turn on foam machine and fill 1-quart measuring container, turn off the machine, scrape off excess foam and place on the scale. We want to see 95 grams. If the foam is heavier then increase air pressure. If the foam is lighter than 95 grams decrease air pressure. A range of 90 to 100 grams per quart foam will work, its simply best to aim for 95 grams, but a little lower or higher is fine too. Next start mixing the water and slowly pour the entire 92-pound bag of cement into the drum. Mix thoroughly making sure no cement is clumped to the sides or bottom. Now turn on foam machine and mix continuously until the barrel has filled to 6 cubic feet (this is about 27 inches from the bottom of a standard metal drum). Turn off the foam machine and mix up and down through the mix to get an even foam dispersal through the cement.

@offgrid living for beginners. Hi, I'm Mike. I'm a retired Thermodynamic Engineer who spent his career designing thermal protective passive packaging for extreme environments and abuse. I can't give many details, but there are at least two patents with my name given as an inventor/co-inventor. Forget using soap-foam. It only aerates the concrete. Doesn't add any structure or strength of lamination from a composite brick product. Composite of EPS Beads, Fireproof paper strands. Forget the soap bubble. Rather...use Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Beads CFR (California Fire Rated) that have been "pre-expanded" (pre-expanded) is a trade term used by EPS foam molders. This is what filled your bean bag chair as a kid. Add EPS beads and treated shredded paper insulation. Product is far superior. Want your mind blown? Cut a nice solid piece of blueboard Construction EPS foam. Coat it with Concrete. Allow to cure. SEE HOW STRONG AND LIGHT IT IS. Same block of EPS foam....spray some truckbedliner on it. NOW Take a sledgehammer to it. See how it hold it's shape as long as the laminant Also...desire your mind still further blown? Google how Polyurea and other Coatings are used over EPS foam for architectural outdoors Andy indoors. You'll love this stuff.

overall cost and effectiveness means a lot in this world. with your own labor, aircrete can be more cost effective. I invented a new foam dome roof and concentrator mirror, btw...

I have an idea, I am to old to start a new venture, but someone out there may want to pursue this idea. I would like to build aircrete logs. Based on the toys we all played with when we were kids, Lincoln logs. These could be pre-manufactured so really almost anyone could buy the logs and construct a building. There would need to be different lengths made say like 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 feet etc. There would need to be some that had special ends with channels for doors and windows. There could be some that are pre wired with wall outlet boxes and switches. Logs could be pre-colored or surfaced in some cases. A building could be constructed permanently by bonding the logs together, or could be temporary and disassembled and moved. I think this could be an amazing new business that could revolutionize small buildings. And it would allow for any person to DIY.

I will be 55 this coming February, I've been injured badly and I'm going to be forced to disabled life, I've worked in Construction for 40(+) years (yes, I started very young, I'm an Orphan.) and I've done all stages of home building, from the ground up, (everything!) I can build to CODE (Texas and more) as my home is dyng as fast as the town I live in, I plan to buy a piece of land south Texas, and build my last home to die in, close to fishing, hospitals, malls, stores, within a 20 mile radius. This "AirCrete" mixed with affordable metal building, (Lookup "DuroSPAN Metal building's") on a piece of land with utilities access, and I will be searching for all these things needed to make it happen very soon. Building was, is, and always will be my first love 💘 I will be doing until my last breath. I am 1st a Christian, and forever a carpenter...

in a cold area, such UK and germany (long winter with high moisture and rain. cold and wet) aircrete cant be expose to water or rain and let frozen, it will crack and crumble off.. i have a few piece of light cement with lot of holes, they call it "naac block or aac block", it is very light, mine is in panel form of 5cm thickness. very very very good fire insulation, does not burn, no heat transfer at direct burn on the other side.. but, i break quite easily. i just left the broken pieces outside inthe winter rain.. and every few days when i came by, i saw a layer of crumbs of concrete on it. it seems it will break up into small concrete crumbs when freeze and thawed.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The cement mix goes up to the first ring of the barrel. Then foam is added up to the second ring. From that we can deduce a one to one volume between cement and foam. Not everyone will use a 55 gal. drum.

This is pretty awesome but there is also a group in Oregon called Earth Builders or something like that and they teach a week or weekend workshop on how to build an extremely cheap home from clay or mud however you want to categorize it my one critique on both your idea and there's is you are still going to have to learn or hire cabinet makers flooring people or skills tile carpet whatever and electricians and plumbers. But yes, for the most part both your concept and there's work as far as 4 walls and a roof. Myself I live in Indiana I would need a basement and I love to tinker and shoot and make things that shoot and tinker. A garage is a must.

I think you should just make the circle bigger rather than making many conjoined because if it’s one circle then it’s safe for a 🌪 tornado and earthquake. But- if you make a line of circles then the tornado won’t go around the home but through it.

A better way to accomplish this is to shred styrofoam (EPS) and mix with the cement. A product called Perfectblock is this type of material.

Aircrete adds bubbles to the cement so it gives you 6 times for volume. You use 6 times less cement. The air bubbles in the cement make it very insulating.

Hi I'm in Australia. I've made a foam machine, that makes shaving foam like foam. I'm testing mixes making bricks, my main aim however is to insulate and protect my IBS's.. First time oh I've heard of the 30 day cure time!! Might explain why my bricks are so brittle.. ?? Do you use sand in the mix?? I've read some instructions that include sand, and others that don't 🤷‍♂️. I'd love to build my home this way, but regulations are currently stupidly strict here. There is a chap in Byron Bay area, pushing for regulated rules for thin wall basalt reinforced concrete domes. .. Any way, please let me know about your use/or no use of sand on your aircrete mixes.. Is sand already part of the Portland cement..?

I heard one quote that for 1bag of portland cement, they can make 7 cu ft of aircrete. By the time you get 4 bags to make a yard, your somewhere in the neighborhood of $50/a yard for aircrete. Well, you could have 2500 psi cement blocks for that not a crumbly aircrete block. I think the insulation of aircrete is better and it's lighter, but I would be worried about an animal clawing it's way through the side of my house with aircrete. With concrete, not so much. I think this material is an interesting fad, maybe good for building planter pots or things you wish to ship because it's lighter weight, but I wouldn't trust it for anything structural or load bearing.
